(Ran an Avantime 3.0 V6 for a year, back in 2004 - Loved it. Not sure I'd be brave enough to take one on now, 7 years later...)

Avantime. One day soon I'll have one and I'm sure it'll be a massive dissapointment and a financial disaster. Still want though.

To be honest, the Avantime is the one car that has lived up to every high expectation and dream I had of it. But yes, it is turning into a financial disaster.... well used to that though.

The Renault that I really should have owned by now but haven't gotten round to:

I'd want the Phase 1 V6 with the air suspension and electric rear seats. It will never work but I still want :P

It has to be a mk3 Capri, with the 3.0 Essex lump.

I've got a Top 3 wish list which I've had since I was a car-mad teenager attending car shows etc.

But the more I tell people about these chosen icons the more I'm told not to bother as the actual owning and driving of them would not meet my expectations.

I present the dream that is the top notch stuff BL were doing in the 1970's.

If I was choosy it'd have to be an 18/22 badged version (pre-Princess naming) and preferably the Morris grille like this one.

This would definitely have to be the early series and it must be the V8.

My all-time favourite car ever (my O-level Art project contained a lot of these), again if choosy it must be a FHC in yellow.

It's not even a Peugeot!

I'll settle for the saloon. 8)

Doubt I'll ever actually own one though.

Been there! :D

Renault30-vi.jpg

Imagine, it's 1985, and my neighbour tells me I can have his 9-year-old Renault for scrap money, knowing that my 10-year-old Granada is giving me endless woes. Of course I grabbed it, and being short of space, parked it on a mate's driveway (as seen here) while I tried to figure out why it didn't work. There had to be a catch, didn't there? Seems there's a computer controlling the gearbox, and that's what had let Peter down. I traded it for the cost of some welding on another car, it went to be spares for a 20. ISTR the seats were extremely comfy, way ahead of my Granada.
