Classic spelling on this advert for a very dead Austin Champ Seased engine, and it came with spare front & rear axels. Bless...Kirkby Stephen again.

Both the Fiesta and its driver look like they should be in "Ashes To Ashes" :D

...And will therefore be totally ignored by the production buyers, whose record on that show is worse than mine in my brief spell of management! And that says something! Ashes To Ashes, supposedly 1981? A DCI drives a brand-new Audi Quattro... no, more likely a Granada 2.8 Ghia, and certainly not fire-engine red. Passing traffic includes a Maestro... er no, not till at least next year (and even then it was a colour that I think came in with the new-for-1989 palette). Transferring the show, and therefore Hunt's squad, to London was a big mistake too. What a fucking mess. I think the big problem is, most of the production team weren't even born in 81. Probably.

This should really be in the Grump thread!

I also thought that the choice of vehicles on "A2A" was pretty shocking. The clearly 1990-vintage Volvo 240 estate used in one episode was particularly jarring :x

The production team should have watched a few episodes of "The Chinese Detective" prior to the series being made, I think...

The Quattro was also a late model curve front version. GH would have been in either an SD1, or a Grandad

Anyhow, dragging this screaming back on topic, here's a dodgy Dodge minibus with a DIY camper conversion, seen at Ackworth steam fair (swamp more like) a few years back

Ooh! A Dodge 500. Haven't seen one of those for ages :)

Pawnote: Posts on this forum often meander off topic, which in many cases makes them even more interesting and entertaining ;)

I see that Marina Coopay quite often - belongs to a bloke who works in one of the garages in Grimsby. It's unique in having a tailgate conversion but it is definitely v shabby :D

Real Autoshite now, 'pimped up' Reliant Robin LX, seen at a steam fair near Goole last year. So weird, I took front and rear photos. Your comments if you please....

Think he'd be welcome in the PT Cruzer club

The only decent comment I can make about that Robin is that it appears to be well-cared for

Mobility scooter and at least one item of clothing decorated with a wolf???

Just a guess

Posted

A bit of lorry Autoshite now, again from the same event where the 'ahem' custom Robin was. A Bedford RL in a somewhat odd paintjob.

A friend of mine really likes the RL, as he used to drive them in the TA in the 1980s. He has fond memories of driving them up and down the hills around Penrith. Downhill, a brave driver could get them up to 70MPH, but they took forever to stop! :D

Someone who thinks their Transhit van is a 1980s GMC van.....I pitty the fooo!

Mk1 2.3 Ghia Manual, with all round leccy windows! If I'd had the cash there and then, it would have been mine.

No shite thread isn't complete without a Volvo 340, Thornes Park in Wakey again!

How's about this for a Mk1 Chavalier? Again Thornes Park in wakey, back in 2008!

One for the lover of Iranian tat now, a Humber, again at Wakefield. It's a great show for shitespotting!

And it was only a matter of time before one of these showed up, a Morris Shital.

And some Turkish Shite I used to drive. BMC Condor 225LF's. Mine had a failed engine at less than 2000 miles, another had its electrics wired up wrong so when you boosted the dead batteries, it blew the engine & gearbox ECU's...

Modern, but utter Autoshite.

And here we have a gem of a spot in Derby! Formerly a Toyota Celica, that thinks it is an Audi Tittie!

pratmo10.jpg

^^Did you tell the Celica bloke he missed the U out of TURD when he crayoned it on the door?

Nice spotting thread, my friend. The Fiat 126 is a proper winner: it could have parked between the parent'n'child bays and not been in anyone's way.

And the shite still keeps on comin! A Honda Civic S now in a car park in Wakefield in 2008.

OMG I HAZ BEEN PAPPED!!! :P

And another Datsun..Early Sunny??? Brid again.datsun11.jpg

That silver Cherry coupe is the nuts too. Pardat wheels for the win.

Posted

The Bedford J-based motorised tin whelk is certainly a sight to behold. I wonder how many hours that spent half-completed on a windswept Scunthorpe driveway whilst Gordon/ Derek/ Norman/ Cyril collected enough marine-grade plywood and woodscrews to get it finished?

Van version of the Pauxhall Shove-it, the Shedford Shove-vanne
