I was reading the VCDS instructions for carrying out a forced regeneration, something along the lines of do not do it if the soot loading is above XX%, as you run a very real risk of setting the car alight.

The AS way would to be to remove it and set about it with a pressure washer.

No, the autoshite way would be to send a small child up the exhaust with a set of brushes once every couple of months.

Only if hammering a slightly smaller DPF over it failed.

Seen where folks have done this.

It is technically illegal due to flushing the crap down the drain and takes a lot of doing but I wonder if using a blowlamp on it to burn out the soot+Cerium residue would work?

Pleased that the Titanic* hasn't got this!

If its a 2l c5 you should be ok, the newer 1.6 16v ones almost all have it, and its a piece of shit system.

We had a C4 2l 16v with it on that keeps pissing it's pants about the particle filter, that is inspite of it having it's bollocks revved off to clear the poxy thing out.

Amen to that.

Is this why all the VAG TDi owners hoon the nads off them everywhere?

No, it's because of the disgustingly poor power curve.
