*Sorry, didn't know where on here to post this so thought I'd make a new thread which will sink to the bottom shortly. If you're offended by this please feel free to accept my apologies or just jog on and try not make a big deal of it.

Right, been offered a 2010 Norco Atomic down hill bike. It's supposedly immaculate and has 'triple clamps, boxer shocks' Fox rear shock flnn stem hussefelt crank and handle bars big disks sun ringle equaliser 29 wheels with red hubs juicy brakes', whatever they hell all that means. I know the square root of knob all about cycles and I would have no intention of keeping it, so could someone give me a rough estimate of what it's likely to be worth please and how easy it'd be to offload?

Thankyou in advance.

I work as a cycle mechanic, and have raced MTB in the past.

Unless you plan on actually cycling downhill, it is useless. It weighs too much for regular cycling, on tarmac or from A to B off road. If it is cheap enough and you are interested in some blatting down hills it might be worth it. If you did actually use it, it will be more expensive to maintain than you could imagine.

All the above hammers the second hand value of course.

bike depreciation is worse than cars. Whack it on eBay. It will sell, just not sure how much, its a bit of a lottery, especially for a downhill which are a bit specialist being too heavy and have too much suspension travel for the average punter. No good for uphill or roads. Just downhill unless you are a maschochist. If someone wants one fine but not many people do that I know.

I got my Giant (not a downhill bike just a good all rounder) that was 1,600 quid new, two years later for 300. You can probably make a fair whack stripping it mind depending on how much you pay for it.

downhilling is gr18 fun though!

It is. My mate has a Norco. I am planning on taking it to the south of France in the summer as you just get the ski lift up the mountain and ride back down. No uphills. A total win win situation.
