uncle silvia Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I was randomly Googling some pics and came across Pars Khodro "Sepand" from Iran, I just thought Ide post up a little more about them.................... look familiar lol Yes its loosely based on the MK1 Renault 5 5-door like I have, using the same panels and some of the running gear on earlier models. A later model was "modernised" with a Kia pride chassis and running gear and features such as Air Con etc.............. The Wide arches were standard as the Kia Platform was much wider and this was the cheapest way to make it fit lol They also did a facelift version with a few revisions to the body style which were made until 2005 I believe............ There is also a good modifying scene for these in Iran which makes for some funkey little beasts................ And some not quite so tasteful lol............ OK they may not be very good cars to our standard But I always find it interesting to see odd models being modified in the countries we never think about.
Mike D Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 The silver lowered one on 5 spokes looks awesome! I really like the round headlight front end
HillmanImp Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 They are well cool. Nice find. They do look pretty good modded unlike nearly every Renault 5 in this country
RoadworkUK Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I kind of need one of these in my life. Renault 5 charisma, Kia Pride tedious reliability! It'd have to have whitewalls, though.
ashmicro Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Those are very cool. Does Iran drive on the silly side of the car? I have no idea. The Renault 5 was hugely popular in NI, and you still see 2 or 3 a week arounfd here (we had a massive Renault dealer about 2 miles from my house). I'd imagine production costs in Iran are quite low, so if they are RHD and cheap enough, WINNAR. I could be the Oktav Botnar of Khodro!* *without the bankruptcy bit and jail, of course.
RedSparrow Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Nice, I quite like these! They do some weird car stuff in Iran. Did I read on here that they grafted a Paykan (Hillman Hunter) rear axel onto their version of the Pug 405?
ashmicro Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Driv3r. The cars in that were pretty good, but not quite right. Could have been a rights issue.
eddyramrod Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Does Iran drive on the silly side of the car? I have no idea. Fraid so, as seen in some of the pics. Wheel clearly on the left.
