I love Trigger, and another wasted BL opportunity

Once again, Trig has excelled himself with some road test scans. And once again, BL had something which looked fantastic and advanced but it never went anywhere

Trigger's road test is here

And once again, the excellent AROnline site has a page here The car weighed 664kg which makes a Lotus 7 look a bit of a porker considering it doesn't have a roof, doors or more than 2 seats, and the BL machine would do 61mpg at 75mph with the interior space of a Sierra

Cheers, Trig!

Hmmm.... nope, it's a munter.

It looks like the bastard lovechild of a Sierra and something French.

Which sounds fraggin' LUSH! All it needs is a Maestro spec talking dashboard to be WIN.

Now if it was available in baby-poo brown with a beige interior and a vinyl roof, I could appreciate its AS appeal - especially as it's a one-off.

BUT as a car, something to own and use as transport, it hurts my eyes. I've never really liked the styling of BL cars, most of them at any rate... but this one takes the fucking biscuit.

I can't find it, but the ITN has an excellent video of this in action with Spen King. I will keep looking mind!

ITN News At Ten, 21.12.82

BL unveil a new prototype lightweight family car which can do 133 mpg but can also reach speeds of approx 115mph - but it is still a very long way from production.

BBC Top Gear 1983

William Woollard drives BL's concept vehicle, the ECV3, which featured a 3-cylinder engine and advanced crash protection

If it makes the marmite spread better, this car was spotted sitting out the back of Gaydon, outside in all weathers, with a side window missing. For many months.
