Looks like the Vauxhall has gone........found an Audi 200 Turbo on Pistonheads. Owner seems genuine bloke, had it for 17 years, over 25 years old so it escapes our punitive import tax. Bonus is that it's only 20 miles away from a convenient ferry port.

Hey Trigger, you need to go round that blokes house and bash him over the head with one of those awful alloys. Needs the original wheels put on ASAP!

I drove past it again a hour ago, it's now got yellow and white ones fitted which make those other ones look good! they are awful!

I had an Audi 200 avant quattro turbo briefly , everything electrical , and theres a LOT of it failed to work , great old bus in the very brief time I had it , also owned a CS100 Quattro in black for a while , ex Kuhne and Nagal exectutives car , started to only run on 4 pots and seemed completely impossible on my budget to fit

Both went for scrap

The current owner has had some electrical unpleasantness, but seems to have sorted most of it. One of the electric rear windows is not performing, and the rev counter is a bit sticky, but that's about it. As a rule of thumb, it seems the longer the previous owner has had the car, the more likely it is to be fairly well maintained. He's already sorted the dreaded cracked manifold situation, which seems to be the biggest pain on Audi 5 pot turbos.

I had the previous model 200T, an automatic.

and it was a spectacular motor car in every respect

- particularly fuel consumption -

If I hammered it, I could get it down to 12mpg.

Apparently the Mk i did suffer from catastrophic fuel consumption, the Mk2 version is supposed to be a lot better, I think the fuek injection system is a bit more sophisticated.......we shall see
