new shite on my drive!

Went to Sainsburys last night and had a quick browse of the customer notice board and saw an advert for J reg Peugeot 205 for buttons.

Phoned the fella up and he told me it was his daughters car and she was off to university and couldnt afford the insurance. So off I went to see the old beast.

The car is solid as a rock, no rot or rust at all - but the painwork has faded and laquer is peeling a bit in a couple of places. drivers seat is a bit dodgy but the fella had a still wrapped up set of seat covers in the back which he said I could have.

car looks as though its not been cleaned for an age, but should look ok after a couple of hours elbow grease.

its a 1.1 GL, 5 door. has original unscuffed wheeltrims too. 8)

its got an MOT until next April and taxed until the end of this month.

the winner is that its only done 54k miles!

Bigger winner - a FULL tank of petrol!:D

so taking off the price of the petrol its only cost me about scrap value. :)

only downsides - horn and clock dont work, neither does the back wiper.

enjoy -

My my, that is a very nice find. I always check the board at the supermarket, yet to find anything of interest.

aye, last time I was there was a tidy Sierra up for sale on the board. It was a lovely example but at 700 quid was too much for me to justify buying it.

Sounds like a bit of a win there Rob, take it it was dirt cheap mate?

*Edit: that's a very familiar looking car, one from Dickens at some point I guess?

*Ps: I once scored a Mk1 Astra VERY cheaply from a supermarket advertising board. The lady was surprised she hadn't had more calls about it. I wasn't as my plant who worked there had seen her put the notice up then took it down as soon as she left and gave me the contact details.

Think its a Chester car originally. fella got it off his mate a year ago who has a garage in holywell - it came in on a trade apparantly. Im sure I saw a Chester address for the previous owner on the part of the logbook that the seller sends off.

also, it has a 'cheshire vehicle watch' sticker on the back!.
