Change of Hobby

This week I have had the fortune/misfortune(depending on which way you look at it)to inherit a small property.I have decided that I am going to farm it in my spare time(at least try)so I find myself having to buy myself a tractor..This in itself I find a little bit exciting as I grew up on a farm but it also means one thing-----the 1st 3 cars that you see under my name below are going to have to go,unfortunately. It is a decision I have not taken lightly as it means a complete change of scene for me as I'm going from Autoshite to Tractorshite. I would prefer that the cars go to somebody who will appreciate them for what they are.

So if anybody is interested, please PM me and lets see what happens.

Oh by the way,,,,,I'm going to invest in one of Meltham Mills finest! :?:

I did think of a Renault tractor,,but they were never that popular over here and parts can be an issue. My dad always had Browns when we were small and I always had an afinity for them.Even more so when I read the History of the company and how this great British Agri.Manufacturing was basically shafted into closing. What I am getting is basically a CASE IH 1394 which is a Brown through and through and is both collectible and workable and from the 2nd last year of manufacture/1987.

Oh yeah----Espace SOLD.

Best of luck with your new venture.

This may sound like a stupid question but what is the deal with the registration process in getting a car from Northern Ireland?!! I assume you have to get a English/Scottish/Welsh type registration?

Yep, and it can be a right bastard.

I bought one of my cars in Northern Ireland, it was registered with DVLNI but on a UK number plate. I had to re-register it with DVLA so I could get a tax disc for it, it took bloody ages and ended up needing a VOSA check (even though it had previously been registered in the UK with DVLA!) since it was imported to the UK from Jersey when it was 6 years old, i.e. the issued number plate (H reg.) didn't match its year of registration (1997).

I was bloody amazed that DVLA didn't even trust themselves, last time they issued a UK registration on the car!

I don't know the process when Importing from Northern Ireland,,,,but when you importing from Southern Ireland  as far as I know the first thing you do is get in MOT'D on the Irish plates(82KK534)then you go to the DVLA to get it registered again with the old UK number in this case(VNR55X).

You don't need a new MoT for NI-registered vehicles (or at least I didn't). :D

Oops sorry, my bad!

Both your cars are lovely it is a shame you are having to off load them. How much were you wanting to the 11?

Not sure if it's still the same but a friend of mine bought an Irish registered Leyland Leopard a couple of years back, checked the DVLA for the last registration it carried before export, brought it back and presented it for test in the UK. It passed with no issues...

Well done on your choice of tractor, a David Broon is about as Autoshite as it gets for tractors, got to be either that or a Leyland! They were under-devolped worked over old designs that were never looked on favourably by farmers in general but stayed in production for so long thanks to folk who just kept buying the same brand time after time. Sound familiar?!!!

They have good points though, good on fuel, fairly tough & not bad to fix (unless it's a Hydra-Shift?!!!). Way cheaper than equivelent Massey/Ford/Internashional too!

PS, I have a Leyland! :D

Ok----well things have moved on quite a bit...Tractor has arrived and was put to use at hay over the weekend.

Both the Renault 11 & Espace have moved on to their new owners which leaves me with the 18 Turbo..Now after some head scratching and money counting and realise that I can afford to keep a car as well as the tractor. I have also decided that I still want a change instead of the 18 so its still for sale and when it does sell it WILL be replace by another Renault, so I'm still Renomad :) -------anybody interested in an interesting swop?????
