Chod from Le Mans

I'm at the 24 again this year and we saw this WEAPONS GRADE chod. It was 100% minty.

It was inside the circuit so I gather it belongs to someone working there.

Excellent. I was drunkenly discussing these with Gompo yesterday at a wedding, and I reckon they're the absolute perfect shape for a 5dr hatch. They're so round, without being "stupid-clown-bubble-car" like a k11 micra. 8)8)8)

24 left in the UK apparently. :(

Certainly a local motor: 72 = departement du Sarthe

I always loved the shape of these. And that colour's just......brown.

Here's my mate's old R14, taken on the day it died. We'd been marshalling on the 1988 Wyedean Stages in Serridge Forest, and the ferrous oxide-compromised substructure succumbed to the hammering we gave it round the forest tracks.....which manifested itself when one of the inner wings/strut tops detached itself from the rest of the car at about 80mph on the M5.

Thats mint, nice colour too, wish I could get mine to look like that!

Must admit I thought there would be less than 24 left I was quite surprised. Would love to see a few more on the road though, wonder where they are all hiding!!

Ouch!!

...on an 8 year old car!

Say what you like about moderns, I can't see that being a problem on your average 03 plate motor...

True but I think Renault 14's suffered particularly badly in that area.

Then again a eight year old car is possibly more likely to be junked because of some expensive electrical problem!

I think if I owned that beige 14 I would never again feel the need to seek out anything more obscure or undesirable. Apart from possibly a vinyl-seated orange '77 TL model with the bumper-mounted indicators like Mum and Dad had until I was 7. Shite perfection in my book.

Ace spot.

We had a red 78 model in 1985 when I was ten YUX 349T. It ended up being scrapped at eight years old at terminal rot and replaced with a gold Maxi 1750 WWP 568M. Eight seems to be the default lifespan for them over here. Ours was red with black vinyl seats and also a side rubbing strip down the sides which was quite unusual!!

Please stop posting pics of R14s, when I've just bought the R9 . . . what is to be my last Renner for a while (as if) - a 14TS was my first car. I'd love another :D

No other French car can ever be as truly shite as a 14 was - the TS was, in my humble opinion, even better than an 18. The hearing aid beige car is gorgeous - wonder if the owner wants a new genuine exhaust, cos I'm sitting on bloody loads of them!

Said this before on here but my Grandma used to have a 14. It was affectionately referred to by my Grandad as 'the shit car'. He had an XJS, which of course was never shit...

There's a lovely '78 TL hiding in RegieRitmo's garage - it was my car before Reg had it (you saw it at Crich Mr18 :D ).

Come to think of it - is Regie is hiding in the garage with it?
