road tax renewal and missing v5c

Recommended Posts

Probably a dead easy answer. My mate has just called me in a blind panic, his road tax is due to expire next week, he has not had the dvla renewal notice and cannot find his reg doc. He has had the car for almost a year and my guess is that the dvla fooked up somehow. Does he just need to take mot, insurance and a completed v62 to his local post orrifice to get his new tax disc?

Is he likely to get any crap from the vicious old bag behind the counter?

can he not do it online and save himself the bother? He'll probably have to drive with the expired disc on for a day or two, but it won't come up on ANPR so the chances of him being queried about it are approx. 0.0000000001%

can't do that without renewal notice or code on v5c though

He'll prob be having to fork out £25 for a piece of A3 paper printed out by a dula employee for the privilege of paying his road tax.

bugger me this is fun

v62 says You do not have to pay a fee in the following circumstances.

• If you are the new keeper and the previous keeper failed to tell us

about the change, you must have the New keeper’s details section

(V5C/2) from the V5C and send it to us with this application form.

then says

You cannot use this form (v62) to tax your vehicle at Post Office® branches.

If you have changed your name, acceptable evidence is a marriage

certifi cate, decree nisi, decree absolute or a deed poll.

If you have changed your address, acceptable evidence is a current

driving licence, an original bank or building society statement or a

recent gas, electricity, phone or council tax bill.

If you have a V5C/2, you can tax your vehicle at a Post Offi ce®

branch that issues tax discs within two months of the date you

bought the vehicle, or up to 13 months if used at a DVLA local offi ce.

If you are not the registered keeper, and you do not have a V5C/2,

you will not be able to tax the vehicle until you receive a V5C in

your name. Until then you cannot tax the vehicle and therefore you

must make a Statutory Off Road Notifi cation (SORN).

So SORN it is then until he can get his new v5c through

I would call him a useless tosser but he is facking huge

Just call him a huge useless tosser then to be on the safe side.

Years ago I was walking down the street in Galashiels, when I spotted a very large mate of mine who was a bouncer in a local club, I came up behind him for a laugh and said "get out of my f'ing way - ya big daft bastard" .

Bloke turns around with an astonished look on his face, mine was even more astonished as it wasn't my mate

We both laughed....fortunately

Actually, I was more embarrassed than anything - I've no time at all for lack of manners.

Life also dictates it's the size of the fight in the dog, not the size of the dog in the fight

Apparently you can do it at the local DOOVLA offices. Not sure how but i asked when I was on the phone trying to sort out the tax for the DAF. Just take along the MOT and insurance and 'apparently' they can do it there.
