mobility scooter shite

seemed topical so I thought I'd give it a go

 

I bought a BEC 3 wheel mobility scooter on the bay for almost no money whatsoever. I bought it for the following reasons

 

- to piss off the misses "what do you want that for?"

- to canabalise for bits to bolt to the kids real-life-toys jeep (main reason )

- to motor down to the local co-op and run into the heels of some elderly grumpy bastards that do it to me every time I step into that miserable place.

 

trouble is that while it did work fine it now doesn't

 

Fully charged it, works for about 2 metres which compared to a 7 mile range is a bit shit and then cuts out with loads of flashing lights and so forth.

 

I have googled my fingers to bloody stumps trying to find manuals / expertise without any success.

 

I have pulled the console apart and it is a real bodge job of electrics. I really could do with a wiring diagram to help me debug it. Anyone in shiteville help please?

 

p.s. I enjoyed scoota's posts - shame when anyone leaves a forum because of what someone else implied. hopefully he'll be back in 10 minutes rather than diving arse first into pissed on heads

My Son-In-Law repairs Mobility aids and instals all sorts of kit in homes etc. I can ask him what he knows. Do you have and model specific numbers that are on it? And build plates or serial numbers? Approximate buiild year?

All I know is that it is a BEC sterling 3 wheel scooter. I have been over it with a fine tooth combe and cannot find any serial or part numbers.

 

Any help is going to be good. I have a feeling that one of the batteries is fubar. they are wired in series so 24v is order of the day. I have another 12v gel battery that I will try tomorrow

It dying with all sorts of flashing lights would suggest duff batteries - can you lob a multimeter over them and see what you're getting after a full charge, and after the 2 metre rampage?
