Ebay driving me nuts

May be a petty point but does anyone know how to turn of the ebay suggestions permanently, and not every time, in the search field? Every time I want to look for something I have to 'Hide ebay suggestions' before it will show my list of previous searches and it's driving me a bit mad - why do they do these things? I couldn't give a s#*t about their suggestions, I want my own!
