Bollocks to that, my old 405 pezzer (1.6 XE with Weber carb) wouldn't do less than about 38mpg however you drove it and did a fair bit more if you took your time.

amazing to see the 405 consumption figs - I had a ROver 75 Oil Burner a few years back and the MPG was shit

I know the daf isn't especially good on the gas I;m just trying to delude myself as I love em!

Wish I had got that 205 Junior - great wee cars and bloody cheap

The other option I was thinking about was a Ciquento (spelling) which seem to be very cheap and in Fireengine flavour amusing to run

i got an astonishing 39.4 mpg from the Accord last night (motorway, around 60-65 mph most of the way).

I did a brim-to-brim run last year in my pickup, and was astounded to find it gave me better than 38mpg. 2.5 Isuzu turbodiesel, still running-in off a rebuild, in a crewcab body + Truckman topper, with 15" alloys instead of the standard 14" steels, on mostly mountain roads with no special considerations except a 3000 rpm limit. Oh and diesel here is 1.02 euros...

That's pretty impressive. I quite fancy one of those Isuzu TF/KB/whatever they were calling it that millisecond.

Of course, since they run indirect injection diesel engines with strong rotary pumps, I'd be running mine on vegetable oil and lard anyway.

The wages in Cyprus aren't very good though, so it's swings and roundabouts innit.
