if you need a family car then why not get a Volvo 240 Wagon for $1000 and spend the rest of the $9000 importing the following:

Austin Allegro

Austin Maxi

Daf 44

Citroen BX

or other similar tat

you would then not only have a cheap, reliable and safe retro car for daily use but an unrivalled clooection of euro tim and British tat all avaliable at bargain basement prices, all easy to fit and all as rare as mustard on your side of the pond.....

you know it makes sense!

Grudgingly, the Audi, but given a free choice, I'd go for a good Volvo 700 or 900 estate and put the rest of the money in the bank :)

Why don't we turn this thread into a "I own or like the *Make / Model* , thus I shall suggest this regardless of relevance to the intended theme". We don't get enough threads like that.

If it had to be between the two you posted, then the Audi it is.

Why on earth would you spend $9000 importing dreary UK market bilge, think of all the rust free uber-shite (aka dreary foreign market bilge) you could get for that? I'd be swimming in a sea of non-rotary Mazdas, Princes, Izuzus and Holdens thank you very much!

As for the original question, I see absolutely no appeal in either of these vehicles but I'd buy the stupidly expensive Mazda if I had to, because I like Mazdas with names and not numbers.

I would choose the Audi with a heavy heart and my head bowed with shame. I wouldn't use it though; I'd be embarassed to be seen in it.
