I never imagined that both those generations of vehicle would have worked side by side.

Leyland EA was made until 1981; Roadrunner started in 1984. Post Office EAs trundled on for many years...

top bananas my son!!! -

lurvely site that and some wonderful examples of British LCV - 3 cheers for the procurement strategy of the GPO!

Some great Sherperage - the design of which has grown on me with ownership - especially the parallelogram side windows - an impression of speedy progress that is a filthy lie

I'd lurve to pick up a nice Commer or J4 camper to go along side the Sherpa - heaps of character

Great thread Trig 8)8) On a related note the Post Office Telephones stuff has always fascinated me, they seemed to run some really old stuff right up to the 1990s and sometimes beyond!

a great thread, I remember when I was a kid they used Bedford HAs and marina vans at the PO by me. I only ever saw EAs after they'd been sold on from the post office in shoddy condition.

I own an ex-PO J4 clubman (ldv 200 sherpa thing)

Does anyone here own this honey? It was on Ebay a couple of years ago....

Probably something to do with the guy who runs the commer van fan forum, he's got loads of these things. I would love one but they are serious money now unless terminally rotten. has anyone driven one? they always looked like they'd tip over on corners.

Being a country lad we had the series 3 LandRover delivering our mail when I was a kid, I remember some tale about the postie taking a short-cut across some open ground in the snow to cut out a long sweep in the road & the snow plough tried to follow him & got stuck!
