Some of my old shite

Recommended Posts

Not as eclectic a mix as Mr W. Uvvum's selection, but I thought some of you lot might have fancied a look at some of my old crud.

If I've done this before, apologies. I can't be expected to remember half the crap I post in 'ere.

Everything started with this (which cost me £60)

1.3 GT x/flow in it, and front discs and a servo. Other than that, utterly standard.

n804084643_1241054_5299.jpg

Replaced with this, Mk4 1.6L Cortina with a 1.8 Sierra Pinto and a Ghia interior.

n804084643_1241029_9410.jpg

That was replaced with this, originally a poverty spec 1.1 drum brake job. Had a 1.3 wiv a twin choke Weber.

n804084643_1241034_489.jpg

Soon to be joined by this 1275 GT. This had a rather tasty 1480 motor in (the motor was worth significantly more than the £350 the car cost)

n804084643_1241018_2534.jpg

Replaced by this Cortina, also fitted with a full Ghia interior. Unfortunately it suffered from a slight carb fire...

n804084643_1241041_2666.jpg

Replaced by this 1.6 GL. Fitted a 2.0 to it and a full Ghia interior. Went well.

n804084643_1241044_3252.jpg

At some point this arrived. 131 single cam 1.6. £40 from auctions.

n804084643_1241055_5510.jpg

Swapped a tape deck for this. Should have kept the tape deck. LHD for added shitefactor.

Love the fashions!

Did you at any time live on a sailboat with an alligator?

Paid £80 for this.

n804084643_1241047_3831.jpg

This was about £150. Auto, mega low mileage. Mega rotted inner wings.

n804084643_1241050_4433.jpg

This cost about £400, from the same girl I bought the 1275 GT from.

n804084643_1241048_4011.jpg

Proper RS2000. Onna Q plate, £850 squire.

n804084643_1241052_4861.jpg

Mint RS2000. Paid £3995 for this in 1992, so prices for good ones haven't rocketed all that quickly.

n804084643_1241058_6334.jpg

This was around about the same time. HF Turbo carb.

4532559934_a443cb01e0_z.jpg

This cost me £350.

4531927003_0434a67fcc_z.jpg

This was £60, and had only done about 35k.

4531927225_c741704043_z.jpg

2600SE. 8 years old. £350. Slippy gearbox with occasional reverse gear.

Apologies for the fashion faux-pas. I was too busy spending money on old shite to buy decent clobber.

Anyway. This was £100.

4532559404_e20d187c1f_z.jpg

£150. 1600 motor and a few minor tweaks. Noisy as fook though. Cherry bomb exhaust.

4532559078_bc913bc556_z.jpg

On the left is one of the best cars I ever owned. On the right is a Mexico I paid £300 for.

4532558630_c389f728d8_z.jpg

£50 1275 GT. Used to heat seize regularly.

4531925283_d6d5f21710_z.jpg

2000E. £100.

4532558382_786cd12ea2_z.jpg

£80 Carr Mill Auctions.

4531926095_b98c1a45bf_z.jpg

£800, 205 GTi 1.6

£800, Nova SR 1.3

4532560604_2ffa0be3de_z.jpg

I loved this car, until a cabbie hit it head on.

4531927397_1c2918bfa7_z.jpg

So I reshelled it.

4531929231_3f3f805e6e_z.jpg

This is it, reshelled, alongside my first P6B.

Had loads of these, but this was the best one. Mint. Cost £950 from a Doctor from Maghull. Regret flogging this one.

n804084643_1241036_959.jpg

£400. Went well too.

n804084643_1241043_3055.jpg

Swapped it for this though

n804084643_1241038_1450.jpg

Unfortunately, as you can see from the bottom of the drivers door, it needed some repairs after being nicked from the bodyshop.

Bought this to pinch the parts that needed replacing. £800.

n804084643_1241040_1944.jpg

Pinched the plate off the orange RS and put it on this. Which was my daily for about six months. Great car.

n804084643_1241035_718.jpg

insurance was wayyy too high on the Mk5 RS2000, so I replaced it with this, which was cheaper!

The Cosworth was hit head on by an idiot in an Astra.

n804084643_1241059_6628.jpg

So, while it was off the road I used this for a while.

n804084643_1241049_4211.jpg

I stupidly bought this (£400) as a runabout for a while. Biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. 50k miles, 2.7 SLi auto.

n804084643_1241056_5750.jpg

This was a piece of shite as well. 520i 12v SE. Cost me close to £7k when it was six years old, I got shut of it, pronto.

n804084643_1241045_3451.jpg

Ran this for a year and 30k miles. Totally reliable, great car, ok on fuel too.

n804084643_1241028_9166.jpg

Spot the deliberate mistake. It's RHD. Don't buy a RHD Integrale. Take my word for it. They're shite compared to LHD ones.

n804084643_1241033_285.jpg

Brilliant car, this. My first 164, an early, torquesteery 3.0 Lusso manual. Much missed. My mate killed it on the Formby bypass.

n804084643_1241027_8919.jpg

Replaced the 164 with this. My lovely Vitesse.

n804084643_1241057_6038.jpg

A woman in an accident courtesy car pulled out of a STOP junction in front of it, resulting in this.

Paid £600 for this. 1.8 TS. Remarkably enjoyable to drive.

30558_390199374643_804084643_3741920_3586947_n.jpg

£250. 24v Ultima.

W&P Turbo Rangie :)

n804084643_1241188_5171.jpg

£600 from the auctions. 2.5 20v Executive. Ate cv joints for some reason.

I have calculated that the combined value of those cars, if you still owned them today, would be £8,737,564,291,800.

I like the late-model 155, always fancied one of these in that shade of blue.

Posted

That blue is called Bleu Nord, aka Northern Blue. I kept one of those blueys, as 2.0 widey just like that, for 8 happyish years until a red van twonk clouted it amidships

Pete: No pics of the Fiat twinked Escort?
