It'd be great if you found it again. Sorry to be negative but as it was last taxed in 2,000 is it possible it's been scrapped? I'm assuming 2,000 was the last time it was taxed or SORN. I do hope it's still about of course.

Is there a way a friendly traffic cop could do an ANPR thing on it? That way it might come up with an address, assuming they're allowed to check for you? Failing that will DVLA send you the V5 history if you chuck them a tenner or whatever it is? There was a post about that on here recently, hopefully someone will know the score.

If Ken is alive then the car will be too - so fingers crossed - if not then....i will check for scrap

Wow, what a story. Have you made enquiries about Ken? Surley some people/businesses from around where his old garage was might know of his current whereabouts?

I hope you do get this car back. I wish I could find my Dads D-reg Sterling (Last taxed in '97), though it may well have been scrapped.

Thanks, and cavette, thanks for your PM - your daughter's internet trawling meets my approval - Child labour is the way forward!

Today I have spent quite a long time trawling the web - it is looking like my best bet will be to retain a professional to locate him, if he is still alive!..

So far all i can find is Ken Green who runs the landcrab club and a Ken Green who competes in Hill climbs in his westfield Sei - this could be him and i will send an email but I suspect this is the ken Green who lives in Sheffield and is currently selling a westfield Sei.

The Ken Green I am looking for competed in motorsport in Scotland in the 60's and 70's and is one of those Borders/Midlothian motorsport types - the same society that spawned Jim Clark etc....

I have posted a thread on the Westfield Owners club forum and also on the Panther car Club Forum

If Ken is still alive then he will probably be in his mid to late 60s and I doubt he will be particularly web savvy as the light digging I have been doing hasn't turned anything up as of yet!

No, I suspect i will have to engage a pro who will no dount be able to track him down through the old deeds of his garage property which he owned outright - then hopefully I will be able to locate his whereabouts -

Weare now pretty sure that he lived in the Lasswade/Penicuik area of Midlothian

I will continue to dig and thanks for everyones efforts and kind PMs

Try http://www.192.com

I did a search for Ken Green, Edinburgh and it brought back a few addresses including one Ken Green older than 65.

Could this be your man?

You have to buy credits to access full address details but it's not epensive.

Good call,

well, 192.com ain't that cheap!

anyway I have discoverd the following:

A Ken M Green lived with Sheila Green in Penicuik until 2002 - they then moved to Matlock, Derbyshire where they moved next door to Robin Green (I can't remember if Robin was Ken's son but it rings a bell) and his young family. 2003 has them moving again in Derbyshire but there is no record of them on the electoral roll post 2003....not good

If he is Ken J Green then he is off the right age and lives just off the A702 near Penicuik and has done so for years although on his own....

I suspect the way forward will be to write to both Ken J and Robin (who is still resident) in an effort to find out what happened - although it is not looking good - I suspect it is Ken M I want and he's been off the roll since 2003/4 and you know what that could mean...

not looking good and it will be very sad if Ken is no longer with us

Good luck with that Scooters..Glen Nevis is my old childhood stomping grounds...a beautiful wild environment for your Dads resting place..i managed to track down my granddads fuel injected V12 E-Type roadster which is now residing in Stirling..its being restored and sits in fine company with a bunch of ex-works racing MGs..so next time i go back to Scotland I can be re-united with it..and no doubt shed a tear over it as well..

Thanks Foto - I have written to both Ken J and to Robin Green on the offchance they can help.....

all I can do now is sit back and wait.

In the meantime I will run a DVLA check on the V5 status

I was just outside Penicuik today for work. I'll probably be there again once the snow melts. Let me know if you want me to do a drive-by, or take pictures if you've made contact and it turns out to be there.
