Oof! A High'n'dry Accident? Bits for those ain't cheap. I should imagine Birmingham will be the best place to look. There seems to be a lot of 'em dying around there...

Need a drivers side electric window motor, and [just to be on the safe side] the switch block that sits in the centre console

I'm pretty sure I saw something of that ilk at A1 Autospares, Oil Sites Rd, Ellesmere Port recently. Might be worth a Google and giving them a call.

I think the accent use crappy bike brake like braided cables for the windows - are you sure this hasn't knackered itself?

I suppose I should really whip the door panel and have a look. I got it for a nice old duffer who rammed his Mazda into a wall, and needed some wheels quickly.....the electric window didn't work when I got it, and, amazingly, in spite of repeated banging of the door panel, still doesn't. Bloody modern cars.........................

Can you hear a click when you press the button? My Golf window did a similar thing, when I pressed the button I could hear a click...... click as it tried to move, and then shut off due to resistance. Was the shitty design of the bike-style cables so I had to replace the mech.

If you don't hear the click, it could be a switch. Get a multimeter and check for voltage on the switch connector, and then randomly short bits together until something moves.

I assume the fuse has been checked - as if the previous owner tried to open it in frozen weather it would blow.
