Whilst flicking through the 'bay I came across these shiteworthy dub powered skip truck.

It's not often that I discover a new truck maker so I thought I'd have a quick Autoshite enquiry and ask if anyone else has heard of these.

 

I must admit I'd probably prefer to spend nine hours a day in an Iveco and that's saying something.

Yep, East-German light utility vehicle, hence the name I guess. They still make them, road sweepers and Bin trucks mainly. Design doesn't seem to have changed much since they first appeared. I remember being surprised as someone on here spotted on in a UK scrapyard.

We used have three of these with road sweeper bodies (Scarabs I think) on them, it was about 12 years ago so older model (M25?) very basic as you'ld expect and bit of a iffy getting parts some times. Every part makers address aways ended up as Karl Marx Strasse.

Karl-Marx Stadt? It's called Chemnitz now. I think they used to make them there.

 

Most big towns in the DDR had a Karl-Marx Strasse.

They were originally marketed as IFA's, basically the motor manufacturing group name in East Germany, included Wartburg, MZ, Trabant, Simson, Barkas etc
