Meet at the NEC Sunday 14th

Really we should have just booked a stand at the NEC ourselves.

Make up a club name to get it past whoever dishes out the stands, and then on the Friday morning with the stand chock full of old tat, just before opening time, erect the Autoshite banner. H&S on the stand would be a nightmare though, what with all the drip trays, jagged bodywork, empty tubs of isopon and jump leads laying around.

That way there would have been a load of free passes kicking around too :D

I think stands are quite hard to get for the NEC. MIght work for a Stoneleigh Resto Show or similar though. :D

probably less than the 604 which seems to do about 18mpg

You're taking the SD1? Oh, you bastard. CIHAGM?

GENIUS.

Hoozup for doing this sometime soon? Any properly big show in the Midlandsish? Somewhere we can all suffer equal pain trying to get to. Cholmondely was a hoot, Go to a few shows, get some recruits, sort a track day.... Autoshite, the movie.

Erm, I am still going to this and there's space in the car. MM5 is on board, Pete's still keen, that leaves space for one more plus whatever tat you fish out of the autojumble.

Which car is very dependent on whether or not the logbook for the 479 + 1 shows up this millenium..........

Parking will be way cheaper split, as would a bit of FUEL MONEYZ (but still cheaper than travelling alone).

Erm.

Hey Watneys red barrel, I could be up for a bit of that, I was gonna get the train down from the KOSTA DEL KREWE but that costs £22, what do you reckon? I presume you'll be coming somewhere reasonably near Crewe?

I'd be going past it, aye. However, any kind of J16 excursion will require harsh language towards:

1. Gresty Road

2. The YMCA.

Just preparing you etc.

Next weekend I will be in Stuttgart, visiting the Mercedes Benz museum, so won't be at the NEC.

The ticket & parking cost quoted is a third of my return air ticket!

I don't understand either question.

Understandable...

Its £25 a ticket Pete plus £8 parking.

I've bought cars for less! And ones with a ticket too!

Just bought my bed and breakfast at the Corley services for £49.95 for the Friday night, Lovely jubbly!

If theres anyone from the North West / M6 corridor going on Friday and wants a lift, I HAS SPACE IN MY VAN.

Posted

I'd offer anyone in the Ipswich area a lift but they would have to share a bedroom with me and Mrs Trigger though.

Can I have a go mate?

I'm sure something can be arranged. It's fairly shite at the moment though. I drove my uncles SD1 years and years ago. It was a 2.6 auto. I loved it.

Just bought my ticket today!!! (For the car show like, not for Trigs live studio production)

Dammit. The SD1 is no more due to tin worm and ebay.

Would sir be interested in a go in the XJR instead? I need to try a 604. I'm seriously tempted to go and get one from France next year, do a road trip in it, and then investigate the alternatives for furnishing one with silly amounts of power.

Slightly tempted to buy a 604 turbo diesel and fit a small block V8..

Posted

don't need to offer anything in return, but you will need your own insurance (probably you're already covered to drive other peoples cars)

if my 604 doesn't put you off then nothing will

if you do buy an auto diesel 604 please can I have first dibs on the powertrain

there are people in Australia who have put I think Holden or GM V8 engines (can't remember which) in and a guy who put a Rover V8 in a 504 which is basically the same thing

The 604 was designed for a V8. There's a huge empty space in front of the V6 engine and the 2.3 4 cyl diesel is quite a big engine too.

Has this place got an autoshite banner? I am sure I can happily have an erection next to my wee beast :lol::wink::wink:

Might just have to knock up an A4 jobbie to slap on me side window....

So is anybody actually bothered about meeting up on Sunday :?:

I know some people aren't happy about the price of tickets thats pretty obvious but that wasn't the point of my post I'm just surprised that for a forum devoted to lovers of older vehicles nobody had suggested it before............... :?

I suppose I should be grateful my thread has been hi-jacked, usually when I post anything on here it either languishes pretty much unanswered save for one or two replies or sinks dramatically down the pages, like my spots thread.

Maybe I just don't get what this site is about, I've owned maybe 100 cars during my driving career many of which I'd love to own now and I'm sure would be approved of like the '78 Mazda 929 Estate bought T&T for £50 back in 1987 because I needed to move some stuff about one weekend!

I could bore you sh*tless with pics and tales of the stuff I've bought, sold, scrapped and even raced but where's the incentive to contribute when it seems you're the only one interested.

Mark Minimad5 is the current custodian of the Banner of Automotive Shite par excellence, and I suspect it'll be me that runs him up to meet the other NW nutters on the way down. There's room for a banner.

You’re from Yorkshire, aren’t you?

Cool, although the Stagea in your sig seems more interesting. Post something up

Did we decide you’re from Yorkshire? :D

Do us a write-up of the Jago stuff and the Stagea, obscure stuff is for winners. Racing is cool, unless it’s banger racing – just my opinion, mind.

I went to the NEC show last year, it was pretty good. You can play “spot the chav who’s wandered in from the MPH show next door†Pointing and jeering is the way forward

Tonka, my old green baize card table. This is Autoshite. If you love shite / obscure / unpopular old motors then post about 'em.

It looks like this NEC meet is a goer, so you've done well. It's done a lot better than my idea for a meet on a deserted Welsh moor did...

Price of the tickets is scandalous, but there's an opportunity to see a Pug 604 in the flesh, so I'm in.

Oh, and post pics etc of your shite past and present. I'm interested.
