Who sent me that Popular Motoring Acetate?

Hello.

 

Someone ages ago sent me an April 1963 acetate promo from Popular Motoring. It was a series of recordings from the workshop whereby you had to guess what was wrong with the aforementioned shit box depicted within. There was a typically po faced RP voice over that rounded the whole package off. Runtime was about 3 minutes.

 

Anyway, thanks to a consummate vinyl copying frenzy (as good an excuse as any to dust off the LP collection) an MP3 version now exists on my computer, resurrected from the dead with Windows 7, my portable interview Mini Disc player, a truly rustic Folio Notepad mixer and a wafty copy of Audition 1.5.

It was me who sent it to you Jon, I found it in a old issue of Autocar but without a record player I couldn't listen to it, I'd like to hear what shite the old fella has to say, is it possible to copy it onto youtube if its easier that way?

I recently found a tape from Fast Lane mag, around '89 or so I think. It's a series of track tests around Donnington, driven by Mark Hales with Becky Adam trying to stay composed in the passenger seat. Cossie Sapphire, 911 CS, ur Quattro 20v, and Nick Mason's F40 feature, if I recall. If anyone wants, I could digitise some (or all) of it, to be emailed out.

Or we could get together and put this stuff up on a SoundCloud account?

I have a nice Popular Mechanics 1960-ish disc of a whole host of engine fault noises.

Cholmondley-Warner explains the sound of piston slap, to an excited audience of one.
