VOSA MOT History check

Just found this via a friend , gives you the MOT history on a car from 06 , you need the reg number and the document reference number from the V5C or an old MOT , Handy if youve just bought a shiter and want to see the history as it tells you all advisories and / or reasons for a fail and the garage it was done at

This is very interesting, I've used it a few times in the past. Funny how long failure sheets tend to disappear from a car's history!

It's on the back of the MOT cert.

I think only a current MOT will give you the history but the V5 reference number will. The same reference number is on the green slip too.I've bought cars with just the green slip, checked online and found them with a current MOT.Any MOT station can print you a duplicate for a small fee.

I used once after using Simon Greens in Leeds.

I had failed the MOT on headlamp alignment and I took it back into the garage the next day as asked to 'get it sorted whilst I waited' as they had not had time the day before. Was a free retest and they would pass it there and then.

Took it in and they insisted that I leave it with them so okay, just a mix up so got a lass from work to pick me up.

They ring me up at lunch to say it failed on headlamp alignment. I explain I know that it failed on it yesterday and the deal was that they were going to sort it and put it back through. They explained that they had already put it though an MOT on the computer and were obliged to charge me (people who know about such things can confirm or deny such rumours). I went onto the VOSA website and notice that they had not put the car through the computer and were in fact charging me for no reason the cheeky gits. Once I produced the VOSA info they refunded me straight away. Made sure i made a spectacle though in front of all their customers. Wankers.
