Unhappy 405 shite

Well, might as well post a couple of pics of the latest acquisition despite the horror story that was the ebay transaction, detailed in a seperate thread a short while ago.

Despite the blown head gasket, I'm thinking really now to at least have a go at doing the work, or at least getting the head off to have a look. Rest of the car doesn't look too bad, and everything seems to work (apart from the engine). Have been looking for a 405 automatic for about a year so don't really want to throw it away along with my £500. And I'm still more angry about the way I was conned than potentially losing any money, but some of it is probably my fault for being too trusting. Moral; don't accept a car too quickly that's been driven out to you in the dead of night, but I expect all you shiters wouldm't do that anyway!

Looks very nice.

Hope you get the CHG sorted out cheaply.

Is it a GTX? Looks like a nice enough example HGF aside

Tis indeed a GTX, also had cruise control which I wanted - they started to put cruise on the last few GTX automatics when the Executive was dropped late 1995.

Thats a lovely looking car, looks a lot nicer than the bulbous blobs that Peugeot make nowadays!

It went a bit wrong when they started designing their cars in-house over farming the styling out to Pininfarina. The 307 was the first of the in-house designs I think.

How come it took so long to find one, Carlo?

Are they hard to come by in auto, or were you being choosy?

Looks alright that. Does it have the centre caps for all four alloys? If so, it's been looked after!

I wanted one with cruise and a roof, which are hard to find, although any 2.0 auto saloon now is a bit scarce. And | put the centre caps on, from my hoard of 405 spares!

As others have said, it looks great - for some reason it looks more like a 605 than they usually do..

Hope it works out. Any older car can have random painful failures, so better to get it out of the way right now. Should be a decent tool that. And has been mentioned, it's from a time when Peugeots looked good!
