AutoItalia at Gaydon - Croma, Strada, Marbella turbo.....

I went to AutoItalia at Gaydon last Saturday (28th). Usually this is the last Italian show of the summer and is usually very busy. But, being brought forward a month, and a Saturday as opposed to the usual Sunday, plus it was a bank holiday weekend meant the turnout wasn't like previous years...Still I saw a few people I know, had a good chinwag and swapped some bits. I enjoyed it.

Anyway, I took my MK1 Panda to this one as it had passed it's MOT (with no advisories too :D ) the previous weekend and deserved a good run out. I also had an inkling there would be a few Pandas there as it's 30 years of the Panda this year.

So after getting the pics off the camera this afternoon, here is a selection.

The rest are all a mixed bag, and some are only rear shots, as the way they were parked didn't give much room for any full frontals.

Oooh, it's nice to see YRY again as I owned this Montecarlo until three years ago!! !! I bought it off an old boy who'd owned it for about twenty years. It had only done 19,000 miles and was in lovely nick apart from a few scuffs. NO RUST at all! I got all the black bumpers and nose resprayed and a couple of wheel

arches 'titified'. The interior was like new.

It was a bit cramped inside for a 6 footer but it drove like a bomb and was very reliable if somewhat noisy with the mid-engine.

I sold it when I bought the red Tagora but made a nice profit...I bought it for £5000 and sold it two years later for £7800! I reckon it was the best 'unrestored' one in the UK. I do miss it!!

Hey theres some QUALZAR shite there, nice work. That Strada used to belong to Bickle, he found it on a forum going free!!! (I think). Marbella turbo is class in a glass as well.

Some lovely cars there.

What's the deal with the black Panda with the extended boot?

What's the deal with the black Panda with the extended boot?

It's a 'van' extention Gompo. Popular in Italy with equivalent of Gas board/YEB/Royal Mail etc. The 'kit' was available from Fiat & normally has covers for the back windows too.

Unusual in UK though.

That Gamma is doing a good impression of a Maserati/de Tomaso. Never seen a "sported up" Gamma before. Lovely stuff.

Cheers. Looked cool in a relatively pointless way.
