Did they do a 'Baccara' edition aswell or was that just on the 25? I seem to remember them being tres luxurious.

The 5 monaco was called a Baccara in France, but in the U.K we got a monaco 5,21,25.

My mate's late father owned a Renault dealership and took a minty 2 year old 5 Monaco as a trade in, which he gave to my mate. 1.7 Manuel. It was one of the nicest cars I have ever been in.

The top of the range Clio was a Baccara IIRC.

5 Monaco looks nice though although doesn't strike me as particularly cheap.

That 5's been advertised on RR for ages, think he started the price off at £2250 or something similarly comical.

I bet those are well comfy. They look like the ones in the early R25s.

Interesting - I wonder if thats the same one I went to see in Longton about a year ago. G reg, similar miles, also no rear shelf.

Sold for about £450.....

Those 5s were great cars. Made even better in Monaco trim. I had two Superfives and they were both ace, cool cars.

Mr Lobster's got it right though - I saw this one and recoiled at the price. These cars are worth saving, but they're not yet classics. Saw a really nice one of these in Cumbria a year ago - £450 and an Auto version cropped up in the Owner's Club a few years ago - mint with one dead owner - went for £200. Given the fact that I've now got 11 bloody Renaults at my house, one of these wouldn't have made any difference.

Good work! I take it your neighbours are fairly understanding :D

It's frustrating in a way that £1350 still seems too much for this car. It does seem quite peachy.

It'd be a really nice car and £1350 isn't really much for it. Its only expensive because Renaults of that age aren't really worth much. Another few years and it would easy be worth that - look at how the values of Mk1 R5s have gone up in the last few years.

At £500 though it could well have come to live at Chateau Lobster 8)

Don't get me wrong, they're subtly hidden. Not all old I'm afraid - six of them are Meganes. The method in my madness is:- Mark1, phase2 16v Meganes snap their cambelts and are dirt cheap, but are decent cars. Buy said Meganes (plus crashed Meganes for bits) replace motors with working ones which have a fresh belt kit and water pump and then sell - apart from a mint, 200quid 52 plate hatch which is now my runaround.

Money made adds to my eventual Leboncoin expedition - well, I'd like to think so. Nearly blew it on a Vel Satis recently, until I realised that would be worthy of me being sectioned in Leighton Hospital.

I've always had a soft spot for these but really prefer the gun-metal ones rather than the bronze colour.

Like many, I've too many Renault and Alpines already
