Some alternative tat spots at a Bus show today

Today, I visited the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum open day at Lathalmond. I took a large amount of pictures of buses, which I'll spare you from.

However, as the museum is located on a former Army base in rural Fife and there is a fair amount of decaying shite around the site, outwith the perimiter of the museum, which I thought might be of interest. Here they are:

Looks like someones given up with this one:

Sed Atki Strato! I got quite excited about this, as I've not seen one for a long time.

I couldnt identify the remains of this pick-up, but its not a Caddy. Cortina P100 perhaps?

I also got a semi over this Iveco Turbotech. I cant remember when I last saw one. Divla says last taxed 1993, but must have been used on Trade Plates or something, as its got an '01' tel number on the side which didnt come into use till 1995:

Not much worth saving on this one-time Fife Leyland Leopard:

Go on then, heres some bloody buses:

I have no idea why the air filter has been rearragned like it has on this Leyland National. I believe early MK1's had a vent for it under the back seat.

I love these converted Y-types. This ex-Fife one was mint.

I also had a ride in this Volvo Citybus:

I took lots more pictures of buses today, which I wont bore you with (yet!).

Excellent, I love that potato truck, looks like it's just waiting for the forklift to load it up again. I think the mystery pickup might not be European. First-gen Hyundai Pony, anyone?

Top spots! I can't get excited about the Iveco though!

LPG Mk2 Granada is well horny.

Keep meaning to get up there, and have a nose about - it's not too far from me. A lot of the truckshite will be due to the 'trailer repair' (read: we'll have a go at fixing just about anything metal) place which used to be in the industrial estate. That probly explains the Iveco, it used to belong to the Iveco dealer just outside Dundee.

This, on the other hand....

Sed Atki Strato! I got quite excited about this, as I've not seen one for a long time.

...is, I think, a Pegaso Troner, not a Strato. It was available thro' the SA dealer in Glasgow at the time. Very, very rare in this country, and sadly minus its' magnificent huge white plastic wheeltrims! I think I may go for a nose about after all... 8)

EDIT: Here's this very truck! http://www.roadtransport.com/blogs/big-lorry-blog/2008/02/pegaso-tronerthe-pride-of-spai.html Go on, link your pic on BLB, and tell them where she rests now. Small world, eh?

Blimey good shout there! It did cross my mind that it might be a Troner as I couldnt fathom the badge on the door, but I didnt think they were sold in this country. DVLA says no on either make.

Says in the text that the guy knows that its resting at the SBVM, but he's in San Fransisco now.

Nice info on the Iveco too, its not moved far all its life then. It was pretty tidy.

doesnt look like much has changed, those mini's and trucks look like they are in the yard of Trailer Refurb who shared a bit of the site.

The AEC Mandator with the cars on is a regular there, some of the cars look a bit flakey. the Oxford registered Mk2 Granny I've not seen on the truck before though.

Some great buses up there though with big money spent on them, and a well run outfit who managed to secure a good home for the collection.

Hey there - just found this forum and the photo of my Pegaso Troner sitting at Lathalmond. Yes, I am in San Francisco - the truck has been sitting there since 2002 - not sure if it's still there now - anyone know? It was sitting in Trailer Refurb's spare yard, but I don't know if they're still there or not, so don't know what's happened to the Pegaso. It's a great truck, very rare - even more so now. Many happy memories of driving through UK and Europe taking humanitarian aid to Bosnia and Kosovo. Thanks for posting the pic and grateful to anyone who know where it is now!!

Cheers!

Hey, I'm glad you have found us, your pegaso was much admired! I was quite excited once I was told what it was that I'd photographed. My guess is that its still there, not much changes there. There are a few classic bus owners who are Members of the forum and I'm sure they will have recently visited the neighbouring Bus Museum (where I took the pic from) and will know if its still there. Have a look at the Truck Shite thread a few pages back for more Pegaso action!

If you have loads of bus pics, what about putting them on the Bus shite thread? I'd like to see em.

I'm guessing the National 2 has been re-engined with something not designed to go there. A vertical rather than horizontal engine maybe.

Just caught this thread; YFS 310W is still fitted with a very raucous Leyland L11 engine, but the general concensus is that the air filter is inside because First are half arsed at everything and the mounting brackets were rotten...

Who owns YFS now?

A bloke called Gordon MacGregor; parts officer for the Leyland National Group and owner of many, many Nationals up here, including all those resident at Lathalmond. He ended up with my Mk1 now I think about it.
