First instalment, all taken outside my mate's house.

Posted Image

Range Rover TDi. The owner doesn't have room for it so he gave it to my mate to use. That's my Xantia behind but I don't think it qualifies as shite just yet.

Posted Image

Old Skool meets even older skool. The 406 is a povo spec L model. The 305 was free with tax and test but we had to drive from Fife to Bedfordshire to get it. A fuel pump leak meant it would stall unless driven flat out. The queues on the M6 were fun. Oh yes.

305 escapes from its annoying younger brother.

Posted Image

Posted Image

XM 2.1TD auto, bought for £100 because the previous owner was at his wit's end with a fuelling problem. We bypassed the leaky fuel heater and drove it home from the place where it broke down.

The wooden garage contains a Peugeot 205GTi with an XUD Turbo engine but the owner doesn't think it's shite enough for this forum.

Some of the more unusual/interesting stuff from Farming Yesteryear at Scone September 2006.

Commercial shite

Oddly proportioned shite.

Those Capri things are JBA Javelins. Kit-cars with a box frame chassis with some capri panels bolted on. Agree about their shite status but not some of the others. The CF, the FG and the Clan Crusader are all superb.

Wonderful Frenchshite at your mate's place. 205GTI with TD engine? I remember someone local to me (garage owner) doing that 15yrs ago, impressive stuff. Whether it is easier to fit GTI suspension etc to a 3-door 205TD to create the same effect is a moot point, but I think said fella had one accident-damaged 405TD and one 205GTI with blown motor, so easy decision...

Nice 305 wagon, free as well? It doesn't get any better than that!

Posted

The 305 wagon is great! Haven't seen a non-van 305 variant on the road in yonks.

Love the 305 estate, learnt to drive in one of these, gave my poor mother a fright now and again (though not as much as when in the Montego GSi!).Good cars, excellent ride and handling but the 1400 engine in ours make overtaking a bit of a chore. Luckily my mum didn't drive too fast so we often held other people up!Haven't seen a non-van one for ages. Even they, like the superb 504 pick up, are getting few and far between now. Well done on saving it!

The previous owner of the 305 bought it nearly new and had it until 2003 when he replaced it with an X plate 306 Estate. I believe he had been trying to give the 305 away for quite some time. After the enforced full-throttle thrash back home we looked at the timing belt and went very pale. It was all cracked and split, so badly that we didn't dare start it until a new belt was fitted. The 205GTi TD conversion wasn't that hard actually. Apart from the actual business of changing the engine, which was needing done anyway, it was mostly a matter of swapping the wiring loom over. I did the wiring stuff, somebody else did the oily and heavy work.

A few more. You might recognise the location in most of the pics.

Dead 205 with Escort in the background

Another tantalising shot of the Escort.

This is what happens if you overtake at a junction. Of all the cars I've had this is the one I'd like back.

Posted Image

Shite bus. Less than enthusiastic child. Extra long wheelbase Landie in the background.

One for Dave.

...drool...

Shame about the Savanna, now there's a car you don't see around much anymore - used to be the darling of the middle-class nuclear family that couldn't stretch to a Volvo, Espace or 505. Guess they all buy Zafiras these days.

Posted

The middle class nuclear family (Lady vicar, comic book illustrator and many children) who sold me the Savanna replaced it with a Zafira.

For my next trick I will predict this week's Lotto numbers

A few more. Everything up to and including the 2CV was taken at Bo'ness station.

Austin Plonker van advertising Bo'ness Motor Museum.

Jag. I love the air of faded grandeur you get from Jaguars. They never look right until they've started to deteriorate a bit.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Not really Shite, unless you try to run one as a daily driver.

Posted Image

Picture of a picture. I just liked the filthiness of this van, especially as it appeard to be some sort of publicity shot.

Posted Image

Tin Snail

Posted Image

Instant rat look on my Xantia. The washer fluid had gone bad and was smelling evil so I emptied the tank by holding the washers on until they ran out. Big mistake, it covered the whole car and set like paint. Cif and a green scouring pad wouldn't even shift it from the glass. I eventually managed to get rid of most of it by washing the car with WD40.

Challenge 4. I didn't even know this was there when I took the photo. The holes are very deep indeed and I don't like to get too close.

Some more recognisable stuff now.

Challenge 3, MK3 escort cvh engine and gearbox, looking at the exhaust manifold I'd say possibly XR3, but there again I could be wrong :lol:

Challenge 1 - Mk1 MicraChallenge 2 - Mk2 CavalierThe blue bootlid is from a MK1 Golf, bonus 'Volksway' dealer sticker on the glass too.

I really don't know what Challenge 3 was. It looks as if it has a fixed parcel shelf so I'm thinking Orion. You're right about the CVH though.Iain- you're correct with 1 & 2. The Cav appears to have been set on fire with a dog in the boot :(

Apart from the first pic (Cortina Mk3) I'm stumped! I presume they are battery-electric though?

Is Luca's icecream van one of those Mini-based things that I think was the very first post in the Ebay Tat thread?
