More self-healing advisories

From today's MOT.  No attention has been given whatsoever to the corrosion items advised on the last test, but they have vanished.

Its been a while since I was a tester but arent advisories based on 'the opinion of the tester at the time of test'?

The testers opinion is based on their knowledge and experience. Perhaps last year, the guy saw rust so tried to cover himself but the tester this year saw it and thought it wasnt worth mentioning.

If I were the tester and someone asked this to me I'd happily add them to their certificate. Might even insist on another look over to make sure I hadnt missed anything else.

Not quite the same, but some welding on the inner rear sill on my MK3 escort failed the MOT  this time around because ' it's not seam welded'.

It's seam welded where the repair meets the original sill, but plug welded along the bottom where it meets the outer sill.

Anyway, it's been absolutely fine with the last five mots it's had with exactly the same welding since we noticed it was a bit frilly, so that's before COVID then.

I didn't bother arguing (the washers had decided to stop working on the way to the MOT, and I'd missed an indicator fault osf, which only showed with the headlights on.)

Cleaned it up and seamsealed it, passed today.

Test as presented, if in doubt then pass and advise giving the benefit of doubt to the person presenting the car. I can’t blame someone if they are in anyway cautious to add it to cover their arse and in reality their livelihood. See it quite a bit on Ford rear subframes, very occasionally they can rust through but it’s 2-3mm plate so unlikely to rust through.
