First off, an obligatory visit to Jurby Junk and this near perfect selection of manuals.

I don't know why I like Triumph 2000s, but I do.

Rather than a fibreglass crusted BMW MINI, the local brewery chose something more tasteful:

i last visited IoM in 1984

the island was full of 60's Skodas and Austin 1100s

and i spent all my cash on ancient Airfix, Revell and Monogram 1.24 scale kits, and my dad spent all his cash on Dinkys

i got run over on Douglas seafront and went home never to return

this clip was filmed at Redcar Holiday Park, note the blast furnace in the background - now mothballed

trivia extra: Paul Whitehouse is married to a Redcar Girl and regulalry pops in to his mother-in-laws for sunday lunch (and the odd pint in the Kingfisher)

Is it true you have to get permission off the IoM government if you want to take a touring caravan over there?

Apparently you do, can be done by sending an email to the goverment office over there and say when you are arriving and leaving.

Well that bottle car is something different to do with a 2CV !

I didn't realise they were so rare now but I suppose it makes sense, they didn't seem to be made of the best steel in the world.

My aunt had a series of Simcas, ending with a Rancho. During that time and afterwards my dad had a Volvo 144, which seemed to be ageing at less than 10% of the rate of the Rancho.

The Volvo lasted well into the 1990s until I encouraged mum to keep driving up the M1 even though the various warning lights and sounds indicated that the oil pump had largely failed a few hundred miles back. Oops.

^ I saw that on Flickr, epic spot!, Never seen a Simca 1000 before.

I know a guy who has a 1971 example in mint condition. I keep meaning to go and have a look at it especially now he's on the verge of turning into a Rallye replica. Whilst I'm a fan of standard cars especially when quite rare, he has a point in that you'd have to a hell of a long way to find someone who REALLY wants one, even in the club and his chances of getting a genuine Rallye are slim to nil.

I'll try and pop across there when I have some time off in the next few weeks and report back with photos.

There was a K plate one abandoned in the village where I grew up. It can't have been much more than five years old when it appeared.

I REALLY want a standard one! Can I get more details please? I'd save it from getting Rallye spec'd, not a major fan of that in comparison.

Your pic is the most epic spot of the year on here in my book.
