Get a nice wireless in there. On with a twiddly knob for volume and a twiddy knob for tuning and some push-buttons that only pick up french radio, unintelligable pirate stations and crackly radio 4.

1 year without any music - I wired it up and having music for the first time was incredible! It stays (until you accelarate or bang your knee on it)!
