I shouldn’t be surprised that you’re still moaning about this.

Here’s a couple of pictures of it turned off in my car, I set my preferences when I got it.

Good for you. The car I have rented, for just two weeks, is different from yours.

The rental car. I have had it for nearly 2 weeks.

The car is a VW Polo. The engine is a 3 cylinder 999cc.  I do not think it was a turboed engine. 5 speed box. RDW  says it was registered on the 23 Dec 2024.

The ride is very firm. And over speed humps or paved roads if feels as if there are no springs.

The seats are comfortable and the front has more than enough space. The trim inside is well screwed together. Some trim is that hard plastic that is hated by the press.  Heater controls thankfully not hidden in the infotainment screen.

The dash, speed water temp and fuel are clear to read. But the information doted around like a compass direction, when you need to change up plus those speed sign readings, which can be incorrect at times, are for me not needed. I would have liked to have seen a rev counter.

The engine, being a 3 cylinder, has to work hard sometimes thus you can certainly hear the growl.

The car has cruise control. The first time I have driven a car equipped with it. Setting it up was reasonably easy. When the traffic built up and the cars in front  slowed the car would also slow. This made for a more relaxing drive. However, at times it did seem to get confused with slower vehicles I was over taking and easy off the speed a little. When the car in front slowed the cruise could at time slap the brakes on harder than necessary. The curse control also did not like us going at a slight faster speed than the outside lane.  Thus not one centimetre could be gained. It would hold the position even if I was in a blind spot of a larger vehicle.

The infotainment system. The sat nav. was slow to boot up. And to search locations. Worked just fine after, except the English woman could not pronounce the most basic  names of Dutch roads and streets. It seemed to boot up to the radio all the time. SO the sound had to be turned down every time.

The car bonged for this and that, including to remind me to ensure everyone had got out of the car, the front door was opened or that when I was walking around the car cleaning ice of the windows, with the engine runnign that the  key was not in the car.

Conclusion,the brakes were sharp.

the fuel tank is small at 40 L.

The car was peppy. This was on flat terrain of the Netherlands.

The heater was more than adequate.

The car costs new in NL just under 30000€

It is not a car  I would want to purchase. However, it was great for 2 weeks. Especially as I paid for a VW up!

The Dutch have export plates. These are valid for just two weeks. The Germans issue export plate that last for a month. Both have insurance.

Once in Spain I may have to get a temp import plate to give me time to have the car registered.

That process is to ally for importation, pay a fee and have the car tested. It has just had a new Dutch one but that does not matter. I like most who live in Spain have a Digital ID and can submit paperwork on line. The few that do not have a digital ID will be able to go to a gestor. They are an admin office they act as an interface between officialdom and citizens. They know which strings to pull.

Fees will depend on pollution of car, value of car and a new test is around 120€ for a "special" importation test.

Sounds simple, but sometimes officials can throw a wobbly.

I have not gone down the importation route to save money. It was to give us a great choice of car. For example in the whole of Spain on the most popular car selling website there are only 38 petrol engined 3008s, with 4cylinder 1600 engines.  Obviously i used the same criteria of kms and price as I did in NL. In NL there are nearly 200 that match.

A lot of Peugeot with petrol engines in Spain have the terrible 3 cylinder 1.2 PureTech engine. I was not willing to touch them

Poo counts are what you need to post on collection threads. I have neglected this a fair bit because it only occurs once a day. I hate using public loos, usually smelly piss on the floor etc.
However, being a older male I find myself wanting to pee all the time. Some days it seems every hour. Getting old is no fun.
When the hotel has a nice bathroom it is something to celebrate.
We are in a in an Ibis hotel this is only a few Euro morre per night than the Budget Ibis a short distance away. Last year we had a night there. This hotel has far larger rooms and bed. The bathroom, whilst being modular is is also far better

Long day yesterday. The French certainly want traffic on the toll motorways. Laods of N/D roads with low speeds and restricted overtaking opportunities.
We have seen on the news that some parts of France have been flooded. We have seen rivers that are at full capacity. We have manged to get through.
This morning Bordeaux was looking normal just past 6 and this......

Arrived home a few hours ago. The weather was basically ok. A few heavy showers. Now reading  the local press we missed hail, high winds and flooding.

The was a tree greeting us when we got near the house. It was laying across the road thus we could not drive the last 500 metres. Phone the emergency number the Fire Brigade was here in around 15 mins. Road now cleared.

Some more images of the scenery in the last leg.

A train. But I will not be taking that. I have to get an urban bus.

The collection of the 307 was a long day. That image inside a rammed urban bus was the wrong bus. What we did not know was the first bus we tried to take and was told it was not going our way was the correct one. The second bus stopped short of our destination. Then trying to get a taxi to go further proved impossible as they were on strike. In the end got a taxi, one of the new Ford pumas. I was not impressed by the quality of the plastic trim. The seat were nice, looked and felt like leather. I expect they were faux leather.

Had to wait for a technical report to be written. Basically it is the technical details of the vehicle. The alternative is to wait for an official Certificate of Conformity from Peugeot. That costs more than twice the price and can take a month to arrive.

Now that has been produced The test  (Spanish equivalent to an MOT) is to be done on Tuesday.

Here is a photo of both cars in the parking area.
