Have not worked it out yet but not as bad as you would think.. I stuck £20 in on Sunday, have done about 60-70 miles and still got quarter left.. Parkers reckons 400 miles to a full tank. I reckon it wouldn't be far off.

Back on original plates rathe than the private plate it was on, I think it looks better.

Also removed that god awful black stuff off the headlights!!!!

Looks so much nicer with normal headlights, it's a handsome beast for sure! Bet it doesn't have a dead daddy long legs in the headlight though 🤔

That Daddy long legs is the Peugeots mascot… DNR (do not remove) lol 

The Jag has the leaper,.. the Pug has the long legs lol

Its been having that problem where it doesn't go into 'D' properly, except.. now it is going into D every time - twat being its booked into the garage on Thursday for full cable replacement and next month hopefully gearbox flush and fill. 

Best it is absolutely spot on though, It does goes into Drive perfect when cold.. when warm you have to push it into D quite hard... and if you have the knack.. you can get Drive ererytime its not just not ideal.

Going from Hull to Newcastle on Saturday.. several hundreds of Miles to cover - was debating whether to take the Jag but alas... Renault is not ready yet so it will have ti be the Jag ... what A bind eh? But least I know it will be right whilst im up North.

 

Slight coolant leak, not sure where as yet will keep an eye on it. Ive had coolant leaks on Jags before.. usually either Thermostat housing or Header tank. It is only slight.

Update: Its been on the ramp this morning - gear linkage replaced with new... transformation has happened. Its exactly how it should be now!

 

Coolant leak is thermostat housing. Will need doing soon. Along with Rocker Gaskets. 

But today was the start of transforming the car. There was an X type already in on the left.... Clattery diesel lol.

Nice to see an X type getting some love. I owned one for 5 years, it was only a 2.1 auto - so 90% of the thirst and 60% of the performance of the 2.5, but it was a lovely smooth drive and made the right V6 noise.

The Internet bores will mention all the mondeo bits (actually not that much on the 4wd cars). I always considered that a plus point, my controversial opinion is that the ford era Jags are better built than any before or since.

I agree (based on having had 2 Ford era X350s) and I'd say it applies to my Ford-era Land Rover too.

the 2,1 I believe was a Mazda engine.

NO 4 wheel on this one, just RWD.

I like the fact it's built atop Mondeo bits. Nothing wrong with any Mondeo of any sort - Ford era built Jags are definitely built better I would agree with that, shes a bit thirsty but thats part and parcel of owning such a vehicle. 

It's a real head turner being in White It really does get attention. One of the guys in the garage today even said its the best looking X type hes seen, there was an 09 one on the ramp as well when mine was in.

2.5 & 3.0s are all 4wd - they never made a rear wheel drive version as far as I know. Does it have driveshafts at the front?

2.5 and 3.0 are 4x4, the rest are fwd. Yes, they used some Mondeo bits. Makes those bits so much cheaper!

It's defo RWD only... when I was on the ramp testing the gear linkage I had only the rear wheels spinning whilst about only an inch off the ground testing Drive , 2, 3, 4 / Reverse.

 

Front wheels did not move when I had it in D on the ramp only the Rear Wheels. Mind having said this, I couldn't actually see the front wheels... I shouted to the Apprentice are the wheels moving and he said at the back, yes. Could have been winding me up I guess. Dont think I saw any 4 wheel drive gubbins when I had it on the ramp.

 

How would one tell?
