Vehicle-related paranoia

I worry too much. I know this but I hate having to worry about leaving my car parked outside my own home.

I live in an 'up and coming' area. I'm sure you all know what that translates as. I try and park in view of a CCTV camera if I can. Got a good space today.

Anyway, got out of the car, locked it up and walked about 10 yards before a smackhead comes running up to me going 'mate, mate, TR7!'. Here we go, I think. Of course he wants money, but under the friendly guise of pretending he was interested in the car.

I usually never give money to these people, but because he knew that was my car, I felt I had no choice. He even said 'I'll keep and eye on it, make sure nothing happens to it', which to me means 'give us a quid or you won't have and wing mirrors in the morning'.

What can you do??!!

threaten to go round his house and stamp on his toys if anything happens to it?

Scare the living bejaysus out of the scrote. Stare past his shoulder next time you see him - wait for him to finish talking then ask 'Does he like knives?' - always refer to yourself in the 3rd party and stand really close.

Bloody hell, scaring myself now....

I think the question is rhetorical, he's been paid.

Thing is, if I told him to fuck off and he saw the car parked on one of the dark back streets (sometimes have to do this if there are no spaces near by you can almost guarantee he would do something to it.

Correct! As much as the "smash his face in" option sounds tempting, ultimately the best you can do in situations like this is the one where they owe you.

Ignore him.

Or do what Jon Bonham did when someone came up to comment and admire the Rolls Royce he was polishing on a Sunday afternoon. He smashed it up with a sledgehammer!

Indeed.

Often on the net you'll get responses like 'Yeah, if it were me I'd kick his teeth in, pour bleach down his nose and set him on fire' etc, whereas in reality the people that offer this 'advice' would do nothing of the sort.

I don't see there is a great deal you can do unfortunately, but rather than alienate him and piss him off just be polite, say hello if you see him and maybe give him the odd fag here and there. He might not have a 'better side' he might try and mug you off but if it keeps him sweet then no real harm done.

Pretty much sums it up tbh. Sometimes a little 'decent/friendly' human contact might just sweeten him up - as opposed to the normal reaction I'm fairly sure he usually gets.

I agree. It's all very good telling them to piss off but they know where you live, and what's more you have a distinctive car. Best stay on their good side. Plus you never know he might have shown a genuine interest. Could have been into shite before he got into smack.

Saying that smack is probably a less expensive habit and will almost certainly hold you in higher regard with the neighbours than having 5 rusty cars on the drive.

^^ I lol'd.

Judging by some of the looks I get, I think my neighbours would rather I turned up with a severed head in the back of a Ford Focus, rather than another slightly odd-looking old hulk of rust.

Oh dear. I was putting that on from my phone, and i though it was going a bit weird for me. What a douchbag. I am technologically inept.

Is there any way of deleting them?

Just change them into messages about other forums? :o
