Today, I have been mostly...... Doing spacers 😮

Problem with the Astra fwbrg is that it rotates front and back, the bolt in carrier must be 'suspended [on pillars]/spacers+long bolts' if you want to spin the bearing 😐

It took a while, and lots of jiggering about, to get the hub secured in place on the B&D drill stand... the T-Slots were a help, pre cast into the base 👍

Once I had the bearing cranked up tight, I dropped the disc on [back to front, in this situation] and swung the power drill around, locked the Carbide Cutter in the chuck >> I need the drill mount to swing at the fixed cutting height BUT need to lock it to ensure a precise cutting pass around the disc 'inner dia' (of the bell... It's 1mm a side too small to go over the hub 🤬)

I have a piece of steel clamped on the vertical pole and it serves to hold the drill/cutter dead on height for a pass.... Rock On 🚀

By the time I got all this set up.... Lunch Time 🍽️👀

..... I've put it all away now and can pick a *sunny day to finish off 🛠️

Helpfully 😉... When I've completed the cutting pass = flip disc over and PROVE it now fits ✔️

Following my *successful 'buzz/skim' of my new discs.... My faithful [and VERY old] 400w drilling machine conked... with an impressive 'exodus of Lucas smoke!' 🫤

My trusty charge card, never to sleep in my hand, was brought to bear on this item...

£20 $hite, obvz.... But it has a metal gear casing/variable speed knob/fixed trigger hence a shoe-in for pillar drill duties 🥂👍

Will report further, when doing mods to my Lathe 😋 project.

Had a run out today.... Lovely weather 🏝️

Out A69, past ExSycamore Gap, at Greenhead the fuzz had access onto the main A69 blocked off... All traffic our way sent round by Birdoswald! 😮

We carried on straight through to the back of Brampton, right towards Longtown and then a left down towards Carlisle.

Doubled back towards Newcastle along A69 but fuzz blocking the road still... Sending us all back down the back roads to Gilsland 🙄 >> fu#k that!

Left turn and back along to Low Row (crossing the rails twice), right back to Carlisle then turn up @Lanercost cross roads, up towards Alston...

Take the road to drop down into Haltwhistle >>> back into cruise mode along A69 dual & home.

163 miles...

 Fab run out (... and I know all those roads 😉)

Ah Haa.... Having done the a/f yesterday, I'd checked the oil [good habits!] and it was *there on the stick ✔️

Seems AVAS has a manservant, who creeps up on you and coughs.. discreetly.. "It would appear one has a smidge less oil than one might reasonably presume to be a sufficiency, Sir". 🤬

I'm home now and about to drop the last dreggs of the fresh oil change container in....

Can’t beat an Imp!, my old Dad and I both had one, him in the 70s and me, when I obviously hadn’t learned a lesson, in the 80s.  We changed the engine in his one weekend in the street outside our house at the time because he’d blown his head gasket going on holiday. The donor engine had been lying in someone’s back garden for some time, but it did work for a week or two till someone blew that up spectacularly while overtaking a lorry…….
