Arse! I have just bought a 205 as well and you're miles away from me too!

if either of you can sort out anything, i hate to see anything going to the fraggers, car is basically in good nick bit of rust around the top of the screen and the headlining is shot, and the front seats are going in my imp.

Crap warren that just reminded me that pictures !- Bump - (Hope that helps you get answers)

It'd be great to see this saved, but if perchance it does get broken, I'm in need of several bits of interior trim. I'm sure something could be sorted out transport-wise, especially as I'll be travelling to the SE a few times over summer.

I feel a fantastically shite trip is being planned !(PM me time, date and so on ... PLEASE)

Right, if a trip to Aled's is on from this part of the world we need to check if he is still interested in the Toyota Celica RA61 alloys off me.If so, an ideal chance to get them down to him.

Posted

shame you are not in North Wales, otherwise id have taken that off you like a shot.

Looks like a plan is coming together. Where abouts are you ifc?

Warren, Can you please stop posting, your Avater photo is turning me on! :P:wink:

So, are y'all going to get the actual car, or just to pull it apart?

Posted

It's a 350 mile round trip from where I live. Looks like a day off work for me!I don't have anything to tow the whole car back with, but I'm open to suggestions... Aled is the man in charge and it all depends on how much money he wants for the various bits and bobs we all want.

Not too much of a deviation from route for me. I would be heading towards Oswestry/Shrewsbury any way.

would prefer the whole car to go, would tow ok on an a-frame, and weekend would be prefered but could sort a day off if needed, if i know when i will get the car down from the top barn to the more convinient barn to collect it from.

as far as payment is concerned, the car is FREE, FOR NOWT, OR IN WELSH - AM DDIM,

I think it would be taking the royal piss if warren towed me all the way from wales to his "secret" location.Hopefully something can be worked out

According to the Haynes manual it isn't a good idea to tow some 205's a great distance because of the gearbox design. Not all of them are like this but it is worth checking to see if this model is affected as it would rule out a marathon 170 mile A frame trip.Does it start and drive? If so a Day Insure policy and a pre booked MOT in another area may be an option...

If this all falls on its face i'm interested (as a do-er upper), been keeping an eye open for an early twin-carb 205 for a while!! They never come up on the bay.

I have a wonderfully bad idea (Well kind of)Mr_B , you have an A-frame if i am correct ?Do you think my crappy 1.1 fiesta + A-frame towing the 205 would be abit too silly ?I happily towed the mk3 with it (Granted only a small distance), but it seems to have the "Pull" there.
