Don't know what accounts you've been reading, 3-Litres are excellent cars. A friend of mine had one for several years. Then he fancied a change and went through a few big Farinas, a P5 (not a P5B, the original straight six) and an SD1.  The 3-Litre was the best of the lot. Not the fastest or quietest and it's one of those cars that looks better from behind but the ride was superb. And it had a red interior which swung it for me. Any car that has a red interior is better than any car that doesn't.

Yup, that's a pretty good summary of Panhard 24 ownership...

Apart from the bit about other drivers' behaviour. Can't comment on that, as mine has been broken throughout my ownership (which, trust me, is not an uncommon experience).

I've promised myself to document the restoration in an XXX-rated restoration thread on here when I finally get it properly started. It may be a while until I can muster the courage for it, though... I can't think of a single panel on the car that will not require (loads) of work, and the running gear was last operational in the early 1980s...

The 3 litre came out too late & looked a bit gawky. Also the motoring press weren't keen on it.

 Folk that own them & have driven them  however say they're great so that's good enough for me. I like them & imo in the metal they look way better than in photos'.

Indeed, I think the press of the time decided they didn't like it before they'd even got in one. If you look at more recent reviews they are always quite positive. Hubnut did one a little while back and seemed very keen.

Digging around on these, some were 2cv based (which I remember and base my unnatural desires on) and some were AX based, which I didn't!
