Did anyone used to buy this magazine? I have got a few copies of it somewhere. It was a super arty-farty car mag that featured things like 'what to wear while driving', car-based interviews with unlikely people (Missy Elliot for example, and some super-rich Sikh dude who owned a chain of shops selling hair bands and jewellery for girls are two I can remember), car-related art displays and so on, TBH there were very few articles about cars themselves, I think maybe Buckley managed to get a few pages in on his brand of oddball clunkers though. I remember a good article about all the old shite motors on Cape Clear island, so good that i 'encouraged' a poorly Ms_Bolx to get the frerry over there so i could photograph old rammel. The mag was so arty-farty it was almost painful to read, and was super expensive like a fiver a copy (5 years or so ago). It only came out every 2 or 3 months but must have had some appeal as i subscribed to it for a year. Now its website has disappeared, and mags themselves must be super rare as I cant even find any copies of it for sale on eBay! (Hence no pics in this post). I think my copies are in France - anyone else fall for the charms of this obscure publication?

I'd like to cruise round Leicester in the Maxi with a chick like that.

Thankfully, I haven't bought it, as their website appears to be full of stuff that I'm not interested in! Way too arty and up itself for my tastes.Do they do any articles about stuff outside of California?

Bo11ox, much like you I was drawn in by it but eventually gave up. I think the breaking point was when they did an all bike issue, so there wouldn't even have been any car stuff to keep me amused. I bought the first 14 issues and then also found the original hardback book that was published the year before the mag came out in a charity shop for a couple of quid. It was a surprisingly interesting magazine though. Lots of obscure articles and some well known writers. I like to dream that at some point a fashionista will jump at the chance of giving me eleventy billion quid for the set.

If you can read this you're too close

Well i've just chucked a tenner at a subscription so we'll see if its gone to sh*t, maybe rose tinted gegs but I seem to recall enjoying it. Also, i feel it gives a more sophisticated air when left next to the Frank Zappa, than the more conventional Practical Classics option.

I remember it as well.....wasn't my cup of tea at all :(

Just looking at that sends a chill down my spine, it's as if I've just seen the purest of evil in magazine form. :DWas it mostly adverts (for perfume and men's nivea face wash products?)

featured things like 'what to wear while driving'

Just out of curiousity, what are you meant to wear while driving?

Powder blue slacks and a blazer pref with a cravat and peach loafers obviously.

That bird in that beach buggy looks like a slapped (albeit tasty)arse, "CHEER UP WOMAN WE'RE ON A TAT SPOT, LOOK THERES AN ACCLAIM" She looks like a right miserable sow.

My old man bought a copy, and I bought a few after that - probably the same era as you Mr. B, as I remember that Cape Clear island piece well - but I was mega skint at the time and it was a habit I couldn't afford.I remember it being a lot more readable and enjoyable than its 'wanky' appearance, but I was approx. 16 or 17 at the time, will be interesting to hear your take on the latest magazines.

I bought a few of them, mainly for the photography. It's a bit up its arse and like Seth mentions its only worth buying if there's interesting articles. I guess it's an attempt to find a niche in the heavily crowded car magazine market - not read a copy for about 3 years so be interesting to see what you think. I suspect it still has more wierdly dressed anorexic chicks with stupid haircuts and articles on space lawn mowers.

I remember buying a couple of copies when I worked in Manc-land which would be about five years ago. It looked interesting on the cover and I seem to remember thinking it would keep me entertained on a plane journey. But it was far too up itself and trendy so I gave up pretty quickly.More of a fashionable coffee table pose magazine than a magazine about cars IIRC.

She looks miserable driving around Cannes in a trendy beach buggy, she'd have a face like a smacked arse in a Maxi around Leicester 8)

I bought a few copies of this back in '02 while I was at uni, some interesting stuff, depending on the issue, some nice photography, but like others have said also a lot of random crap that I wasn't too bothered about reading. I'd still give it a try again now like. Must dig out my old copies, wherever the hell they are...

Waiting to collect the boy at a tennis tournament shimmied into Costa for a Flat White (hey, we're all midlle-class now) and, short of reading material that wasn't a tatty 'Metro', popped into the newsagent next door. There, on the top shelf, are two -not one, mark you, but two- copies of 'Intersection'. 'Three pounds fifty, please' says the nice Asian gentleman behind the counter. 'That's cheap for such a poncy publication' I think. Back in a comfy chair at Costa I flick past the perfume ads to an article about....TVR. Hmm. Best of all, it was when Peter Wheeler was still in charge. It takes me a while to find conclusive evidence, the magazine is SIX YEARS OLD!! Still read it though. Not bad. Yes, a bit up itself (alright, a lot up itself) but then so am I.ps. there's another copy still in the shop. middle of Prestwich Village next to Martins The Bakers just down from the Asylum.

Subsitute 'Octane' for 'Intersection' and I agree. Can't say I've read the latter.

I tried sticking with it for the first four issues, thinking it would take them a while to find their own style, but it was all too mind-dumbingly tosserish for me.

Bonfire fodder of the highest order, beaten only by the appropriately named Heat magazine.

Now Jalopy, on the other hand ......

I like it!!!! I dont think it pays to take it too seriously though. The sub was only a tenner or something, i will defo renew it whenever it runs out.
