Mid-00s South American chod spots

About 15 years ago a mate and I went roaming around various backwater parts of South America on a shoestring budget. Being a strange person, I didn't take photos of the touristy sights. I took photos of interesting chod. This was helped by the fact we went to some very off the beaten track places. 

I've just managed to find the files, so here's a selection of standard street scenes taken on a semi-potatocam.

Buenos Aires

Bahia Blanca

This was a proper back end town with not much happening. We stayed in a miserable hotel and escaped as quickly as possible.

Kind of what inspired me to post. I reckon a lot of this stuff will have just gone. There were already a lot of chevrolet tin boxes and opel corsa saloons floating about when we were there.

It's a cliche I know, but like most people on here I like to  Streetview the suburbs of Montevideo for the chod from time to time. There's something cool on every street.

The Welsh colony towns of Trelew and Gaiman in Argentina

Valparaiso, Chile

And because this will be of interest to some on here, trolleybuses

We crossed the high altiplano and Andes range between Chile and Bolivia at the Estacion Avaroa border, then drove across the high desert. Quite like the trip they did on Top Gear, but on tuppence budget.

The steed for this was this old Landcruiser.

We had a few halts where we ran low on fuel and the local driver had to refill from carried supplies. Very low oxygen content in the air due to the altitude.

After this I kind of stopped taking photos. Various things happened in La Paz meaning nothing really shocked us, and we were busy going with the flow rather than sticking to a plan. e.g. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/jul/08/bolivia-bans-tourists-entering-jail

I think these were in Cuzco, Peru

 

This was a typical Bolivian bus. As a 6'5" guy, I didn't fit.

 

This was somewhere in Brazil (according to my notes).
