Bumped into a mate I haven't seen for 20 years yesterday at Krispy Kreme meet. Believe it or not this beauty started life as his daily driver back then with a 383 in it. Now sports a blown Hemi.

I asked him what started him off on this project and his reply tickled me!

"You know how it is, Pete, you change a carb then whilst in there you might as well change the intake................."

I asked the question that his wife would pay me good money to know the answer too, how much has it all cost you? His answer was that he could have bought a 2 bedroom flat in his street and had anough left over for a good night out.

Fuel consumption? Not too bad he says, I once got double figures!

Recently run 9.91 at Santa Pod on street tyres and the exhaust still bolted up.

Every window in Krispy Kreme rattled when he started it to go home!

My daughter reminded me her 21st was coming up soon and that would make a nice present!

Remember that's over 20 years though, he might have rebuilt the whole car three times in that time.

MPG? Looks nice, I wish it was just black though. I love these old American cars, they used to make very visually appealling cars! :)

That is a factory colour called "Sub Lime" There was also "Plum Crazy" and an orangey red colour the name of which escapes me at the moment.

Oh Mango? My favourite colour name (might have been a Ford shade) was 'Anti Establish Mint'. I used it in an essay at Uni about ideology \ dialectics \ reappriation and my tutor had no idea what I was on about.

when he first got it he could only have one back seat passenger cos the shocks were poked..and the tyres rubbed on the inside arches..i thought the 318 was well suffice..

Totally off topic I know, but since you mention your mate works for Weta, has he got any info on the LONG rumoured Peter Jackson remake of The Dambusters?

Well considering ol Pete has already commissioned at least one full scale flying Lancaster bomber..i think the project is well under way..interesting story and had zero effect on the German war effort other than drowning a whole lot of civilians..

Is 'reappriation' a real word? I suspect not - maybe this is why your tutor struggled with your essay. As for 'anti establish mint', that sounds perfect for a BMW mini colour chart or possibly a flavour of 'innocent' fruit drink.
