Many reasons NOT to buy a discovery 2. MOT PASSED!

Discovery now promoted to light duties. So its first road test was to a local garden centre to pick up 200kg of top soil and bark. Lol.

MoT booked for Friday afternoon. So it’s getting a front brake overhaul

offside front sliders are seized, so they’re getting repaired next!

That pin took some removing.

Today was mot day.

not gonna lie, after spending the best part of £2000 on this in the last couple of months I was nervous. My mot guy knows how meticulous I am looking after my cars though.

as I pulled into the workshop to start the test a lad came into the office and said “here mate, this landrovers leaking oil!”

we had a laugh and a joke about it and as I walked back to it, low and behold, a huge puddle of oil was under the front. 🤦‍♂️

cue sutty having a stroke.

Long story short, a power steering hose had come loose and was pumping everywhere. Must have come loose on my way there. I tightened it up and topped the fluid up. Bled the steering and the tester started the test.

thankfully, this discovery is in good Nick anyway, and he quite enjoys testing this one. Normally the only landrovers he sees are piles of junk. A pass with no advisories was issued.

im not spending anymore on it, it’s already had enough “treats” to last it a lifetime 😅

Nice! That's how to speedrun becoming friendly with an mot tester 👌

I assume he lent you the tools, you fixed it, cleaned up and nothing more was said etc? That's a great opportunity and we'll done for jumping fully in if so

Yep that’s exactly how it happened. Luckily it was just a loose union, had it been a burst pipe, it would have been another phone call for the big yellow taxi 🤦‍♂️😅

Well that’s another ass shafting I’ve just received. £180 for a genuine MAF sensor. I’m definitely looking after this one!

2 minute job to fit. Hopefully it’ll run a bit more efficiently now.

So, the wife is due a new company car so we went to a few dealers to test the water (she’s been given a list of cars)…. The salesman at Skoda crunched some numbers on a Skoda Elroq EV mid range with no options ticked. With a 1500 deposit, it’s £630 a month.

I let that sit a couple of seconds and thought “thank fook I can still fix my Landrover cheaper than that”

🤣
