Sierra, Royale and Range Rover update.

Sierra is used several times a day and is providing sterling service.

Royale has a problem with over fuelling. Filling the sump with unburnt fuel and tremendous fuel fumes from exhaust. Have changed all electrical sensors, ECU, injection system -all that's left is the fuel pump. Also changed the leaking steering box.

Range Rover was running fine until the door amplifier got wet and went up in smoke taking a part of the loom with it. All fixed now for £25.

I have had a mechanical fuel pump add petrol to the sump on a Triumph in the past.

Maybe the fuel pressure regulator is bad?

I thought that Bren. I replaced the whole injection system with one I had spare which included another regulator-still the bloody same.

It may be the spare is bad. I would imagine new ones are unobtainable.

4.6 petrol. Had it 17 years.

I’ve borrowed a pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure so this might give me an idea if they are both kaput- have run a separate return pipe into a clear container for both and the flow seemed the same.

The sierra is a honey. On a personal note I preferred the two litre pinto to the i4 twin cam - the twink I had seemed coarse.

I hope you get the royale sorted - it seems to be getting harder to keep anything old going.

Some stuffs a piece of piss. I can get nearly everything mechanical for mine pretty much next day or so. Can imagine what a pain in the arse sourcing parts is for a Royale mind.

Pinto is much smoother than the twin cam. This one has always seemed coarse-father had it off his brother in law in 2000 with 30000 miles -I was expecting it to be as smooth as the pinto in my Cortina. Clicked over to 120,000 today.

The lack of parts is why I got rid of my Senator. Replacement callipers are non existent as are rear wheel bearings. The other problem with this Royale is that the original 2.8 carb engine and 3 speed auto has been replaced with a 3.0 injection and 4 speed auto from a later Senator-wiring is a bit of a mess. Very quick car when running though.
