Anyone here after an Audi dizzler? UPDATE

I happened upon a tidy 1992 audi 80 Tdi with the Bosch pump at a customers house today. It has 160k on the clock with one owner from new and loads of history. Taxed and tested till July (I think). A tidy and straight old bus with the "petite derriere" body style. His opening gambit was £600 and I'm sure there is room for negotiation. Smog?Marry? Avoid?Would anyone from this parish be interested? Maybe I should have a punt myself but I don't know a lot about these.

Is it a TD rather than a TDi? I think the TDi came later.

I could be interested if it's in good nick and not too far from Crewe....got any photos? Still regret selling my 94 one a couple of years ago..

The only grot was a tint bit of rust around the nsf arch. It's in Ormskirk so not to far awayI will take a pic with my phone next time I'm passing. It's a bit of a boring colour, dark blue, but it has decent alloys and is a straight old thing. I like it! But I aint got any taste in cars...

*BUMP* Going to have a crawl over this at the weekend. Anything to look out for?

I guess it's out of MOT & Tax now??

Suspension bushes are a regular thing on these. And any rust usually means accident damage in the past.

They're fully galved, aren't they? Someone 'in the trade' once told me that you should only ever get stonechips rusting on these (a hard, sharp object like that can sometimes break through the zinc coating) otherwise, as you say, it's been accident repaired. If it's only had a bit of front wing damage in the past it might be OK though.

You see quite a few of them rusting at the very top of the front wheelarch. Mine had it both sides, with no other signs of accident damage or panel replacement and I've seen a couple with it in exactly the same spots.

A weak point in the galvanization maybe?

My Sister had one for years. Red, 1992, I think it was K592 OWP. It was pink when she finally disposed of it.
