We all (OK, some of us) dream of building or driving random shite.

I like the idea of a lowered Jeep. Or 4x4 type thung.

So I found a body in Ayr, Scotland.

Then a mate from Cambridge picked up a trailer from me in Rochester Kent and fetched it.

After which another mate sold me an MX5 and delivered it from the top of Wales.

And starting with this pile  a year ago…….

Lodger John used to help with a ton of sage advice.

Also clever with some micro electronics.

I made a new roll cage up and joined the front screen to it.

And up to yesterday.

Dash needs covering, fitting of switches.

A few other small jobs, then MOT time.

Hopefully a pass.

So, polishing Turds can be rewarding.

But they take time and patience, plus a few friends.

I thought Jago at first. But weren't they Escort Mk1/2 based?

Close.

I really wanted a Jago, but could not find one.

Settled, and subsequently pleased that I found this Eagle RV.

Guessing Mk3/4/5 Cortina running gear. Certainly different!

Correct, a typical 80’s  kit car.

mix of Cortina and Escort parts.

also, I learned that things like brake drums came in two sizes, not visible, but buying one set, that did not fit, meant buying another set and getting stuck with many new, unused parts.

1.3 and 1.6 have 8 1/2 “ drums, 2.0 and 2.3 have 9”.

Yup.

And as a non mechanical, white collar working, these things are not obvious to me.

Still, I learned a ton, and loved it.

Always wondering who's supposed to buy these half finished kit cars all over the usual sites. Got my answer for this one, seems to have turned out better than anyone could have expected!
