In the meantime I have decided to look at something interesting like an early BMW Mini Clubman to use as daily and small van as needed. This would also mean selling the Caddy. So 206CC, Rezin Rockit Jeep and Caddy all need to go to make sense and space. Westbay 1

Mini Vans retain their value Way too expensive for my sub £1500 taste. Turning a Countryman into a fake taxi will be easier. The drive will happen. BBQ Will happen after that. Ood truck will be there in 1.3.5.9 years
grizz Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 So this is one I saw. Clubvans are of interest too. But retain value. Looking at Clubvans, two for £4500 are cheapest I can see. However…… 2008 Diesel clubman for £1000 about 140 miles from here. Knowledge and opinion on this sort of description invited. Slipping clutch, EML. My American cars often have EML/Service Soon lights on and don’t worry me. Mini Clubman D 1.6 diesel runs and drives slightly rough around the body. 153,000 miles MOT - 12/2024 £20 a year tax Clutch slips occasionally when you put your foot flat down. EML illuminated CAT C back in 2020 Used the vehicle personally the last 3/4 years any questions feel free to ask. PS. Advice elsewhere has me stepping away from this one. Seems the place to look may be higher up the price range. But more importantly, looking back at stuff like the Mk1 Berlingo I had before or even the Caddy that is perfectly functional, the Mini may not be the right choice.

(all were ok it was close to home more of an inconvenience!) i do actually quite like them, they are fun to drive, nothing on a proper mini though! i would also be stepping away from the one there with the issues. although again is better to go in knowing the issues than not knowing! (my c5 had a folder of service history yet didnt get to 3 months of ownership without giving me issues, and then just past 6 months till it spontainiously combusted! dispite going to a overpriced citroen 'specialist' in thornaby that farmed jobs out to everyone else and took there sweet time.) is crazy, i have had cars before with zero history that gave zero problems. i am now of the thinking it is a roll of the dice, but obvious stuff as you know have a look around it, try get it up to temp and hear fans going and shutting off again is as important as checking switches, if the ac takes a few minutes to get cold it probably needs regassing. daft stuff that can point to other issues. grizz 1
grizz Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Following on from my question that started with Nissans, Minis and Berlingos….. Was chatting with a friend and he asked if I had considered a Gen 1 Multipla. The 1.9 JTDi motor?? Any good? Of course I had completely forgotten about them. Soooooooooo….., It has to be absolutely spot on Autoshite fodder. Or is it?? Go on……… Westbay and SilverMachine 2
SilverMachine Posted May 4 Posted May 4 never experienced a multipla, apart from thinking it looks like an awesome low slung speedster if you ignore everything from about 17 inches from the front bumper. really suprised no one has ever cut the thing from the bonnet line and gone all custom. my friends seem to like the old pt cruiser, think there on their third one now, also the transit connect seems a bit of an odd one, available in short or long and with a low or not as low top. suprised they aint been taken on as micro campers as much as the vw's there used to be a good few nissan prairie's about but think rust got them all, same story with the honda civic shuttle, both cars that could also do van stuff, but is the ultimate car that dose van stuff not the old favourite volvo 240 - 740 - 940 something im keeping my eyes open for preferably a carburettor model as they are out there! i think the 260 - 760 - 960 all had the renault v6 so not sure if they can get up to 88mph very quickly! i did get use of a honda hrv for a while a few years ago, odd looking thing but drove nice! would have one of them too. Zafiras came with a multitude of engines, essentially a big astra but they drive nice, only downside is having to reach down for the handbrake! (especially when getting into one straight from a mx5!) a lot of people like the citroen potatos, there ok but i wouldnt buy one. same as a ax turned down a free one about 15 years ago. what was the picasso's peugeot cousin? a hyundai matrix is a nice, spacious car to drive, just dont look at it for your eyes may bleed! what was the clio equivalent to the r5 van? clios drive nice! grizz 1

Great list there. Mate Nick popped in yesterday. And he suggested a Zafira I have always associated them with people who should be sterilised in puberty, rather than encouraged to breed. Then I went to Sallys place and she told me she had one when the boys were young. So it looks like another player has entered the fray.

(not actual enthusiasts that are loyal to there brands) at work over the weekend there was in the car park a little daihatsu mira thingy with finland plates, a clio on french plates and a ratty aircooled beetle with a camper box on its roof but didnt notice its plates as it was behind stuff! and a very decorated luton transit with interesting leaves and flowers painted all over it (by hand) good to see people actually using there stuff though! back to zafiras, the one i had on loan, was a 1.6 petrol, geared very low, 4000rpm for 70mph in top gear! didnt feel as sprigltly as it did a few years ago but its probably down to exhaust being buggered. im guessing its probably gone round the clock at least once, id love to know the milage it is on but that bulb behind the odometer didnt!work! wonder if i can check reg on mot checker, will edit if i can! edit last mot it had done 143108 miles, 4000miles since previous year, not sure if its done more or less but is due mot next month dont see any major reason why it wont continue to serve as a loan car for him once the exhaust blow is sorted! grizz Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 Put a price of £950 on Caddy in case someone needs an awesome 1.9 SDi WAV or needs to tell me what they think they should be paying for it. Details In Peugeot For Sale ad.

New ECU transformed it. I am just painting the dipstick on another of your former vehicles that I have just washed and dried as I am going to a car show in it on Thursday. My Green 206 CC needs to be upgraded to daily once the Caddy sells. Its a little rocket 🚀 Primer And painted. Grizzification continues. Its a bloody brilliant beastly thing in a silk suit. Westbay 1
grizz Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Seems like I have sold the Caddy. Off to Essex to become a mini camper van. mercedade 1
EyesWeldedShut Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Well done - but I thought the DiddyMen were Scousers? Did Ken Dodd retire to Essex and take them with him? grizz 1
grizz Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Thanks to @Zelandeth for his patience when I took over the Caddy. I think it has left my hands a better vehicle overall and I kinda got to break even, which is possible at this price range. Well VW Caddy sold yesterday Gone off to Essex to join three other VW’s in a VW family. Will tax the green Rollerskate at the end of the month and use it as a daily car until someone sees it and wants to buy it. After all…… 2.0 liters of unbridled French passion with 138 bhp at your feet wrapped in lurid green will always be fun. RIGHT ??? The Rezin Rockit still needs to be marketed and sold as well. Caddy headed out after extensive inspection and shooting the breeze with two cool VW guys. https://youtu.be/AVsKadoH6uk?si=gJjTlUJ1TAj7_e_V Looking forward to what Paul, the new owner does with it. He has a few plans, all centred around a mini camper build. As they have a full sized VW LT35 former horsebox camper conversion as well. I will keep in touch with him to see this evolve. I removed the 16” Seat alloys before selling the van as they cost me £330.00 just to buy and fit. So I sold them separately for £220.00 to a guy who has two Caddies and one already on the same wheels. Last views of the Caddy as sold. It served me well for exactly 7 months. Off into the sunset. . grizz Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Some of the small jobs included tidying up scuffs, rust stains and the rear door handle. Amazing what some tidy masking and a few coats of primer and paint can accomplish. Result. mk2_craig 1
grizz Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 I also add, for your reading pleasure some of the responses to the Caddy For Sale ad. There may be a thread somewhere where these prize sized shoppers can be more clearly displayed. Jenson Velcro 1
grizz Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Being a 22 year old girl has its perks. But a 22 year old car less so. Certainly pretty in lurid green, but lacquer peeling is not. So I decided to try putting some lipstick on a pig before you send it to auction as my friend Stas in Siberia said. Last pic shows what I had to work with. Multiple colours. Bet you are glad I never went full commando on this job. Removing under bonnet sound deadening to get to the screenwash nozzle and wiping down the hood/bonnet I also used the centreline of the car to work from because the lines of the front end curve in multiple directions. A bit of string stuck down to calculate how wide the black vinyl needed to be to cover the damage. 94mm Then added some luminosity and bracketed it all in more black pinstripes. I am also not doing the roof and tailgate because of the complexity of curves and lines. I think I am happy with the result. Certainly better than a load of flaking clear lacquer. Looking forward to using it as a daily. Video later. Maybe. GlenAnderson and Jenson Velcro 2
