MX5 Jeep - SOLD 

 

 

 

 

We all (OK, some of us) dream of building or driving random shite.

 

 I like the idea of a lowered Jeep. Or 4x4 type thung.

 

So I found a body in Ayr, Scotland.

 

Then a mate from Cambridge picked up a trailer from me in Rochester Kent and fetched it.

 

After which another mate sold me an MX5 and delivered it from the top of Wales.

 

And starting with this pile  a year ago…….

So it made its way South….

 

Cleaned up, some ideas formed.

A lot of this.

 

And including tinitus……

 

Be sensible.

Many polybushes added.

More cleaning, restoring, machining.

Front end rebuilt

More and more money spent, new parts seemed to be the order of the day.

 

And still polishing the turd.

also, I learned that things like brake drums came in two sizes, not visible, but buying one set, that did not fit, meant buying another set and getting stuck with many new, unused parts.

1.3 and 1.6 have 8 1/2 “ drums, 2.0 and 2.3 have 9”.

Always wondering who's supposed to buy these half finished kit cars all over the usual sites. Got my answer for this one, seems to have turned out better than anyone could have expected!
