grizz Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 New battery and exhaust fitted.ย ย Battery had been sitting behind the passenger seat since I bought it. But after sitting around for a week, ย I had to use a jump pack.ย It took 5 minutes to swap them aroundย Car is really happy with the new battery. It really kicks over strongly.ย ย Then I had ordered the stainless, free flow silencer the week before.ย ย So I removed the original Oldsmobile item, tried fitting the new unit and failed.ย ย Ordered some parts to make it come together and fitted it all on Sunday.ย ย I did a video.ย ย Scroll through to the last 5 minutes if you donโt want to watch the process.ย ย ย I have not driven it down the motorway yet.ย But it sounds really good.ย If I said exactly what I wanted, it really is just that.ย ย So ย total cost around ยฃ85.00 or $100.00 excluding my labour.ย ย Old cars are fun.ย ย Seriously.ย ย . grizz Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 I am busy getting ready to paint the Oldsmobile in Lowrider inspired patterns and colours.ย I will be doing some airbrushing too.ย i have a vintage Miller 2000 mini compressor and a dual action pencil type airbrushing gun.ย I want it to shade pinstripes.ย ย PROBLEMย It wonโt pick up paint or water.ย I have disassembled it twice with not positive result ย Any ideas and advice?ย Pics below.ย ย ย ย DISCLAIMER: I have actually ordered a ย new mini gun with 1mm tip today, which should work for some actions, but not all.ย SilverMachine 1
93fxdl Posted March 4 Posted March 4 No help with the airbrush, but the small spray gun looks identical to one I have been using for painting bike parts, results have been excellent, for a ham fisted amateur Couple of tips, connect a pressure regulator to the gun and set pressure when spraying, I found 25 to 30 psi seemed to work for me,ย Set the spray painting regulator to wide open and leave it there Adjust paint volume using flow control valve Leave air control valve wide open These are settings that work for me, but probably totally wrong for someone who knows what they are doingย Ttfn Glennย Ps thought on airbrush, is it push button down for air and rock back and forward for paint? grizz Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 Thank you Glenn ย ย ย I bought a scrap door for ยฃ10.00 Fortunately it was silver. One step less in preparation.ย 600 grit preparation to create a decent surface for the paint to adhere to.ย Some random pinstripe marking, various paint techniques including lace, fade and a repeating pattern ie fish scales.ย I had planned on using my vintage airbrush gun, which I had never used before, to shade in the pinstripe lines. Unfortunately it failed so I have ordered another new gun.ย Not sure if it will be capable of shading the way I want it.ย In the meantime, a 3 minute video of what I did get done with just a bunch of rattle cans ย Video I think the result is pretty decent for using a sledgehammer to do fine dentistry.ย .ย ย Rustybullethole, MrBig, 93fxdl and 2 others 5

grizz Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 Painting and tools update.ย ย Bought two guns and a honeycomb stencil I was too lazy to create or make myself.ย ย Small gun was silly cheap at under ยฃ10.00 If it works, great. ย Also got a much more expensive airbrush gun with a traditional trigger.ย ย Wednesday I repainted the Oldsmobile Roof in the sun, with a prayer because it went badly, due to the cold before.ย looking at the pattern it went off in, there seems to be a message in there.ย ย I also recovered the C-pillar from the previous damage.ย ย Practiced some more on the door with a sunrise pattern in rattle can, no finesse.ย ย And this morning I had to deliver my lawnmower to a repair guy because either the carb, jets or something else has gone bad over winter because it starts but wonโt run now. I canโt be bothered to try fixing it this time.ย ย On the way home I collected two lots of tools from Marketplace sellers.ย ย Three spray guns for ยฃ10.00 of which I only want the centre one. Others available if anyone needs/wants them.ย ย And another seller had an Estwing roofing hammer for ยฃ5.00 (collected for Craig in Shropshire who has a collection of different Estwings) Same seller had a ยฃ2.00 vintage saw setting iron that I bought for my display cabinet. My grandfather was a woodsman 90 years ago and I inherited his antique saw setting iron that they used for large two man saw teeth. The โsetโ is how the teeth lay and prevents binding up. ย ย Cold and wet weather really isnโt helping at the moment.ย ย ย .ย auntiemaryscanary, MrBig and eddyramrod 3

93fxdl Posted March 7 Posted March 7 The middle spray gun looks like a cheapy that comes with air tool sets, should be fine for primer and practice, possibly finishing, the left hand one looks like it's for spot repairs, bit like a large airbrush since it has no fan capability, try it out for some of your fade effects, before deciding to send it down the road, and finally the one on the right looks like a blast pot, for media blastingย Keep having fun with your painting experienceย Ttfn Glennย Ps do love old toolsย Westbay and grizz 1 1

grizz Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Bunch of little things.ย ย I met a lovely lady a week ago.ย Nooooooโฆ !!! No romance, just nice and intelligent, she is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who works NHS and has a private practice in Harley Street.ย ย We have talked, texted a shitload.ย ย Obviously I have shown her pcs of George.ย She loves cats, but cannot keep one.ย ย So I decided to make her one on Saturday.ย ย Two hours of my time later, job done.ย ย Went to meet her yesterday at a shopping centre to look at her daughterโs Audi A3 of which the rear windscreen wiper does not work.ย Ordered a ยฃ23.00 ย OBD 2 reader.ย ย Gave her the cat.ย ย Later she sent a picture.ย ย Result.ย ย . eddyramrod, Westbay, 666jjp and 2 others 5
grizz Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 My friend Sarah whose 92 year old mum I did the 200 liter strawberry growing barrel for, had asked me before Christmas to help with getting some system ser up for their raspberry canes.ย ย My neighbour, being a scaffoldertraded me some 9 foot, 5 foot and 2 foot poles, he also gave me 4 junction clamps.ย ย So today I headed over with impact driver, drill, cordless grinder and spare battery, plus a 20 pound sledge hammer.ย ย Measured, cut, assembled and happy Sarah. ย ย Little jobs ehhhh.ย ย Also, last week she dropped off a 6 month old Shark cordless vacuum cleaner.ย Somehow it had stopped working.ย They primarily have hard flooring and no animals.ย So she went and bought a new one.ย Modern life ehh.ย Knowing me, she seemed sheepish and was apologetic buying new.ย So after she left, I opened the Shark up bit by bit, after testing it.ย Head unit brushes worked Then the motor and filters and dust trap.ย Filters, being new, unused, in a clean home were sparkling white.ย ย Next up, inside the unit is a pre-filter with a reverse gauze funnel or pyramid that captures hair, debris and small children.ย ย That was completely clogged up, a load of hair and small bits of tissue paper.ย ย Cleaned out this part.ย ย Reassembled, Tested, nearly sucked George up.ย ย Messaged Sarah to say that the machine was working. She could collect any time.ย ย Reply came: Thanks, but you can really keep it.ย ย I went online to check pricesโฆโฆโฆ ยฃ180.00 on average.ย ย Free Cash ? I have decided to leave it upstairs, so I donโt have to carry my corded unit up every time I want to use it.ย ย Life is good ehh?? ย . ย auntiemaryscanary 1
