That's got to be one of my favourite cars of all time! The best colour and beautiful leather. I would love one of those or an Ensign but not the Sportsman for some reason!

These have been on my secret want list for years.Rab was your landlords one in the Cambridge area in 1964 if there is any ownership history for it ?

Interesting thought STUNO ..i dont know if anybody remembers..but the 20 yr old "I' bought the Vanguard off died two weeks before I tried contacting him to see what history he knew on it..it was all so heartbreaking so i nver followed thru with research...i suppose if we do a Car Jam check..the paid version ...that would give us the history in total...

I am 99.9% sure that prefix BN was issued in Cambridge in 1964. Not 1962 as car jam says as the plates are "64 issue. A paid check may have history of ownership as c j has testing records.

From new to '64 the plate would have been a 6 number plate. All plates were replaced with the aluminium black/silver ones in '64.

ah ok..that explains a lot!..its still got the Collett and Fleming Ltd.Pt.Chevalier sticker on it as well!..and funny how it came back to Hamilton after a long! stint in Auckland..thats what probably guaranteed its survival!

My guessing..You could not just walk into a new car dealer and buy a car then. Life was not that easy!Gilfillan had the English pounds to buy the car,Beatson wanted a new car and had the cash to pay for one at a premium. So he got G to get one and paid him handsomely.Collett & Fleming are still Triumph specialistsGoile and Izard were the local s/t dealers.Izard later developed the tungsten tipped saw blade and became very very wealthy, I believe he has a large collection of expensive cars these days.note,, G and I were allocated 12 new cars to sell in 1965 to "walk in" customers, so you had to be almost a personal friend to get one!!!
