Few Cord 812 Beverleys made it to France. The huge driving lamps on this one were presumably fitted by an owner without the patience (understandably) to hand crank the standard retractable items using the mechanism in cockpit. On the other hand, St Cezaire is located in the Pre-Alpes so you would need as many lights as you can get.

Exports of the ZAZ 965 to the DDR began in 1967. The sale price was 7530 marks for the SAS-965A and 11,950 for the SAS-966/968. The Zaporoshez was superior to the Trabant in many respects: its 40 hp allowed quick driving even on steep hills, there was a lot of legroom at the front due to the rear engine and the seats are well sprung. Also the Zaporoshez unlike the Trabant was available with a minimal waiting time.

However, the small, front, boot, the fact the air-cooled rear engine tended to overheat at speeds above 90 km/h and the quality of workmanship which decreased over the years reduced demand and in 1979, imports into the DDR stopped, at its peak it held 3-4% of the DDR market, where it was nicknamed the Zapo.

Oh yes and the petrol-powered heating could lead to it setting fire if not correctly maintained or repaired.

The big car is a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Cabriolet (coachwork by Labourdette). The little one is a Bugatti. Both are probably worth a pretty packet nowadays.
