JMotor Posted February 21, 2022 Author Posted February 21, 2022 On and I didn't fuck it up. Phew! It's enough now to move on to the passenger side. Plan to sort the visual repairs first. Then the hidden stuff after. As I'll go for good solid repairs and not worry about it looking original. Ian_Fearn, Dan302, Bren and 6 others 9
JMotor Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 More progress. Last weekend I wanted to shift cars about again. So kicked the Vectra outside. Was weird actually seeing outside. Felt happy with the progress so far. The GSi wheels I got for it are away to be fixed and powdercoated. Think the colour I've picked will compliment the colour of the car. Didn't plan to have them done so soon. But I'll store them away until the car is painted. Twiggy, theshadow, AnnoyingPentium and 4 others 7
JMotor Posted February 26, 2022 Author Posted February 26, 2022 Done a stupid too. Trying not to impulse buy stuff (😅). But I had a few in the past and wanted another someday. C20XE, but the much later coil pack one. Runs just fine without the typical lifter tick. I've pulled the engine and the rolling shell is gone up for sale. Got a plan for the ReidTap, once I'm up to date with other cars. Nexia got some love too. Oil and filter change. Plus got a used wiper motor. The intermittent function stopped working, so hopefully the replacement will cure that. Dabooka, Dick Cheeseburger, Dan302 and 5 others 8
AnnoyingPentium Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Can't wait to see what unfolds for that wee Nova. Looks like it'll be a right rocket.

After seeing what certain parts go for now. It's being moved on. Do have another home for the enjin. Plans will happen, but not yet. theshadow, Lacquer Peel and AnnoyingPentium 3

Aye it be a great way to get good at welding 😆. Ach, it's not the worst one I've seen. But you'd need to be committed to sorting it. They are good fun with any engine fired in though. Had a Miami Blue Nova years ago. Set of Bilstein coilovers and bigger and wider wheels made such a difference to it. I could keep it's 1.0 on the boil with ease. Until I popped the head gasket 😆. Fired a new gasket on and sent it again! AnnoyingPentium 1

Started with his first car, a 5 door 1.2 Merit (still got the rear 1.2 badge) on a D-reg. Had an H-reg 1.4 SR afterwards, which is still on go! JMotor 1
JMotor Posted February 26, 2022 Author Posted February 26, 2022 Oh nice! Unfortunately my one was stolen and torched after I sold it. Was gutted for the guy. I'd only sold it because I got the chance of the Opel Astra Saloon on the first page. Need the money back for paying off the loan I took to buy it. AnnoyingPentium 1
JMotor Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Kinda two part update. As I didn't just want to fill one post with my nonsense with pictures. Moved on with Vectra again. Cut the outer off first. Didn't go nuts and chop everything out. OK. It's not as knackered. Still a bit of work required. This meant I could repair this side instead without hacking huge chunks off. This time I did the repair bit by bit to keep the original profile. As I seem to insist on buying repair sections and they rarely fit worth shit. Gave the bottom arch corner a bit of a think. Although it was better, with a good tap of a hammer that was gonna land on the floor. Patched in the last piece of the inner. Just as a point I can work from or too. Now. Had wondered about the sill and what it was hiding. So I made a decision. If I'm going to the effort of making it solid. Then I want to know it IS solid. Sill was £45 quid too, yes crap quality. Having fresh metal outweighs the potential issues of rot creeping back out later. AnnoyingPentium, Dyslexic Viking, Lacquer Peel and 4 others 7
JMotor Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Second half. While I was sorting the grot. The wheels went off to be sorted. Really impressed with the colour I got them back in. With the standard "OMG I'VE HAVE TO FIT AT LEAST ONE ON!! 111" shot. Now to stop myself from doing any damage to them. Suppose I should of waited before getting them done..... Nahhhh!! 😂 rainagain, Dan302, Lacquer Peel and 5 others 8

A another friend gave me a GSi brochure and decided I wanted a set for this. Had planned to keep it stock. Wheels are only a bolt on thing. So maybe could go back to stock steels with trims again? Though I like them and they are technically a period mod. Like the chav I am, there will be a set of lowering springs going on in the future. AnnoyingPentium 1

JMotor Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Nice! I intend to get a correct model year brochure for it. I'll have to look out for a Vectra B Irmscher one too for funsies too. Do plan to have it's original plates copied and another set with the former local dealer on them too. AnnoyingPentium 1
stuboy Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 good work with the vectra.. will it be getting a gsi front bumper? JMotor 1

I'm gonna stick with the standard bumper. As I don't mind it. Also don't wanna go down the rabbit hole too much 🤣. Maybe get a rear spoiler as a nod towards the SRi ones. stuboy and AnnoyingPentium 2
AnnoyingPentium Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Just now, JMotor said: Maybe get a rear spoiler as a nod towards the SRi ones. A lad on Briskoda has a Fabia SDI like that, it's got the vRS kit on it. He calls it the vRSDI. JMotor 1
JMotor Posted March 20, 2022 Author Posted March 20, 2022 Weekend on Vectra summed up with the following photos. Rigggghttt. What are you hiding!? *Goes at the inner arch tub with the grinder.* Fudge! Ya fully multi layered pile o' bastard! That hole goes straight into the inside of the car. So interior out to access all round the area. From what I've seen it's a VERY common area for Vectra B's to rot out. AnnoyingPentium, theshadow and Lacquer Peel 3
JMotor Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 Haven't touched the Vectra in a few weeks. Didn't have the notion for it. So went on fitting a new exhaust to the Peugeot. Utter ballache fitting the new cat/downpipe on. It's a 2.5 inch cat back with a outward rolled tail pipe, instead of the crappy powerflow one that was on it. Got a evening shot of the car afterwards. I like the new exhaust as its a subtle touch, suits it better I think? Tenmil Socket, Tickman, Lacquer Peel and 5 others 8
JMotor Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 Oh! The Nova shell was exchanged for parts and has now buggered off. So another shitheap was purchased. Another Corsa B. This one's a 1.6 Sport. Knew of it's existence. But hadn't asked the lad about it. Until earlier this week. It's gonna be bloody handy for parts and such. Also was fitted with a rather rare part. If you know your small block Poxhalls, you'll spot it straight away. Lacquer Peel and AnnoyingPentium 2

JMotor Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 😆 I'll be flogging the spoiler as I prefer them without for some reason. That could be down to everyone wanting to fit them to a lesser spec car. The weekend should see it dragged out. Think I'll throw a battery on and see what it does. Think the engine would sell pretty easily. AnnoyingPentium 1

JMotor Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Yep. Came with a short upper inlet manifold. Apparently makes a difference to the 16v engines. Matty and AnnoyingPentium 2
JMotor Posted April 24, 2022 Author Posted April 24, 2022 Kinda crappy update. Back on to the Vectra. Got the want to do it again. Aye, I'm getting baws deep again. Was worried about how much rust there was. Cut back more again. Afterward a scrub with the wire wheel and dose of Rust Remover acid, made it look less scary. Shouldn't be that far away from getting some fresh steel back in. Matty, Tickman, AnnoyingPentium and 1 other 4
